Shame. Underrated contender, definitely should have challenged for a belt at some point. Probably could have done better with a better lifestyle as well. While he did do this to himself, it's a bit harsh not feeling any sympathy and saving he deserved this. RIP

He had a kind face too. Had that big cuddly bear look about him.

Just saw some pictures of him in the hospital bed and he looked like he was suffering. Upsetting to see. :-(

If he could just go back to 270-280 lbs he could've got a liver transplant from his sister 3 years ago. Just sad :-(

It really is. I actually genuinely feel upset about this. Of all the boxer/boxing related deaths I've found this one, Emanuel Steward's, and Roman Simakov's the most upsetting. Like I said, he had that big harmless cuddly bear look about him and seeing those pictures of him in the hospital bed was horrible.

I always enjoyed listening to Steward's knowledge and wisdom about boxing, watching or reading his interviews or doing the commentary on HBO and his passing happened so quickly. I remember hearing that he was seriously ill but the next thing I knew he was gone and I'd been hoping and expecting he was going to pull through.

The Simikov tragedy was especially upsetting because I watched the fight live on a stream. It's one thing hearing about a ring tragedy, but it hits a hell of a lot harder if you've actually watched the fight where it occurred live.
