Is It Possible Bob Foster Is Overrated?

    In those scenarios where a champion's opposition is generally believed to be on par at best then it's up to the champion to demonstrate exactly who's boss.

    Foster certainly scores highly by that measure.

    Foster was brutal as a LT heavy. A real seek and destroy killer in there despite his lanky appearance. Rapier like jab, KO power in either fist especially that hook.....quick and aggressive.

    Ali once lost an amateur match by KO. Amateur and professional are totally different. No, bob foster is the only guy.

    With his height, power and skills, Bob is a stylistic nightmare for anyone at 175. Even though he doesn't have the greatest resume at that weight, he has to be top 10 maybe top 5 at lightheavy.

    Brutal matchup at 175 for most, although I still feel his freakish size and power at the weight were bigger factors than his skill was.

    I've always felt that he basically "guards the doorway" to that heap - meaning that he just missed out on making it himself, but rates over anyone else who isn't in it. If he'd had a bit more depth of resume at 175 and/or more success at HW, then he'd have crossed the threshold IMO.

    My all-time LHW list would probably look something along the likes of,
    1. Charles
    2. Tunney
    3. Moore
    4. Spinks
    5. Langford
    6. Foster

    in his prime he cleaned out the light heavyweight division and was champ. for almost six years. Sure, he got killed by various heavyweights, but if you look at just his work at 175 he was extremely good.

    I think Hopkins would kill Foster. Bernard would man handle him on the inside like he did to all tall fighters

    Bob simply didn't have the physique to deal with the heavies. He looked like a string bean in there against Muhammed.

    Saw him live in 1969 destroy Andy Kendall...Foster was a great Lt Heavy champ..
