For having every possible advantage (I did not even mention that Leonard was also taller, because this is his only advantage he did not gain by financial power or in any other "low handed" way ) and still failing to win convincingly? I have not watched this fight yet, but some claim 2 zis day that Hagler won it and 1 of z 3 judges agreed wiz zem bak in 1987.
You could also add that Benitez was drained when they fought and did not train enough (regardless of whose fault it was) and as a fact never fought again @ 147 and that Mogens Palle claimed that they had 2 cut a leg off Kalule 2 make him weigh in @ 154 and of course Donny Lalonde, a 175lbs fighter whom Leonard fought @ 168 (Lalonde had 2 weigh 167 )
Hagler got old in that ring that night. Leonard could see his punches coming a mile away. Great performance by Leonard. I give him all the credit in the world for this win and I was always his biggest hater in those days.
I don't think you are getting the bigger picture here Frank. In order for the Leonard fanboys to make their point they have to claim that Hagler was the bees knees 3 and a half years earlier, whilst little Ray boy was retired ( even though he wasn't ) which is why they deny Duran showed Hagler's decline up for what it was even at that time.
