Hasn't he moved up in weight? Kind of rules that fight out in the short term.

Super Champ needs to hold WBA and one other major belt. Therefore the winner of this fight may be eligible for super champion status depending if Rigo is stripped and Quigg promoted to WBA 'world champion'.

Not particularly. The WBA make it up as they go along. That's not the case at Bantamweight with Juan Carlos Payano and McDonnell would murder him or Super Bantam now Rigo has been stripped by the WBO. Or at Super Middle with Ward he had it for two years without defending it after the WBC stripped him. His is 'technically' still champion apparently. Probably more examples of this could say the same until recently with Gennady Golovkin he only held the WBA 'super' and the little heralded IBO, until beating Lemeuix at capturing the IBF. I could probably go on.

The way i am interpreting this:

Payono won it outright (?) from moreno who was promoted due to consecutive defenses. Uchiyama promoted due to consecutive defenses. Rigo unified WBO, golovkin had consecutive defenses. Santa Cruz qualified by winning two separate organisation belts (at different weights).

Not defending the WBA, its a flawed system and they are obviously loose in their application of rules, but its good they recognise that their rankings champion is not a true world champion.

Quigg is the WBA rankings champion

Eubank Jr was the number one WBA contender (interim) to the WBA ranking champion.

I wouldn't go by boxrec with regards to which belts/titles are at stake, they are not always accurate.

Going to write to the WBA for exact clarification on this.

Will bill it as a unification as it helps generates interest. If that makes more money for the fighters, good luck to them.

I do think WBA will upgrade Quigg to super champ though. All they care about is the money and can't see them not trying to get sanctioning fees

Yes - and furthermore the one decent opponent he has faced - Mares does not wipe out 2-3 years of roadsweepers, has-beens and never-weres.
A lot of questions remain about LSC. :thumbsup

his promoter (Carribe) are total junk and don't know what they're doing. he should've gone to Haymon or Roc Nation when he had the chance but was talked out of it by Carribe

Yes- incredibly we've had a situation whereby the mandatory CHALLENGER - Quigg, has been ducking the champ - Rigo for years.....
