Rocky Fielding's open workout 2/11/2015

    Here's the footage from Rocky's open workout today (thanks to IFL TV for uploading it). I posted it up here to get the forum's opinion on Oliver's mittwork with Rocky, the most interesting part of the video is from around 8.30 onwards, but the whole thing is good imo.
    What I found really interesting is how aggressive Oliver forces Rocky to be, urging him essentially on his chest the entire time and bullying Oliver on the ropes, forcing him onto the backfoot.
    In most of the mittwork videos I watch the mitts are usually done at a low intensity compared to this, and at range - do you think this is how Rocky will fight come fight night? In an aggressive manner pushing Smith on to his back foot?

    It could well be a sneak preview into how theyre going to approach the fight. As you pointed out usually you see a light pad workout on these open sessions. 3 reasons i can think off. Most trainers dont want to give anything away and on the last week all the work has been done its take it easy till fight night plus there is a v.slightly higher risk of an injury.

    Don't want to get too into tactics or anything of the like, but do you think they might be doing this to 'trick' Gallagher and Smith into thinking that they are going to brawl, and look to fight on the inside, when in reality they want to keep it longer, try and box on the backfoot.
    Both these guys are tall 168lb fighters Rocky is like 6'1.5 and Callum is 6'3 so I thought naturally they'd both want to keep it quite long, but Rocky looked like a wrecking ball against [a past it] Brian Vera.
    I'm really looking forward to this one.

    I think Rocky will have to come and have a go to be honest, I think Smith is the more capable on the outside and whilst I think Smith is good on the inside for his size, it is where maybe Rocky can catch him.

    There is absolutely nothing that Rocky does better than Smith. Not one thing.

    im never one for reading into open workouts,

    But Fielding looks absolutely fantastic in that video imo. Super sharp

    This should be some craic on saturday

    Yes I agree, I honestly think Fielding will stop Callum**; I just have this feeling. He looks really up for it.

    fielding is going to stop rocky? is that sylvester stallone 'rocky' or himself? he would have more chance of stopping himself because sylvester stallone 'rocky' would use his face to break fielding hands to bits

    Fielding was looking super sharp. Loads of power on his hooks!

    Like both fighters, just hope its a good fight.

    These Smith brothers need to be stopped, taken off our screens, they are a bunch of boring a**holes. Not one of them has an ounce of personality.

    I hope Fielding punches Smith unconscious.
