If Robert Helenius beats Teper convincingly and displays no lingering shoulder or wrist/hand injuries, where would you rank him? I used to hold him in high regard prior to his injuries and lengthy time away from prominent matches. That seems so long ago now though.
Apparently Chisora will be lined up to fight the winner of this match. "A clash against the winner of the upcoming December bout between EBU title holder Erkan Teper and Robert Helenius is lined up for Chisora in 2016, along with possible all-UK encounters with rivals David Price and Anthony Joshua."
Yeah, I'm wondering about the same thing. In his case people always look at the Chisora fight, wich of course isn't a fair way of judging his true skillevel being that injured. I wonder if he can show signs of his level in the Peter fight.
I think that if he can return to his previous level, maybe we might have another future top ten fixture and granite fisted fight. That's a big if though you know? His fights following the injury during the Chisora match just made him look like a shell of himself. It was sad to see. Have you watched his last two returning matches though? The power seems to have returned. Teper and Chisora back to back shows that he isn't afraid to step into the fire though. Imagine that. I'm wondering what if Teper beats Helenius? In that case he will have beaten Duhaupas, Price and Helenius - and that will the third best "last 3 wins" in the entire heavyweight division right after Klitschko and Povetkin. Although one could argue it's on par with Povetkin.
If Helenius beats both Teper and Chisora in the following match, where would you rank him? Top 5, or 5-10?
I clearly rate Teper over current Chisora, so I don't think he'll get much extra credit for that besides setting the record straight for a bit. If that fight happens and Helenius spanks him they still haven't remotely beaten eachother's best version.
What makes you think he can? Just askin. If he does beat Teper he'll be back in my Top 10. But I see him as the underdog in this fight.
So do I, currently. I think though that the previous version of Helenius was a formidable challenge for most, if not all heavyweights. I would love to see him return to that fighter. I don't think a loss would be devastating to the career of either Teper or Helenius, but I think psychologically it could be worse for Helenius given the doubts that must reside within him after being injured for so long and not really knowing if he's made it back physically. I just don't know how beating Price and Duhaupas stacks up to truly being a favorite in my mind though. Duhaupas seems like a decently skilled guy with a great chin and Price just seems like a giant with granite in his fists that folds at the slightest resistance these days, sadly. Maybe Teper is the real deal though. He looks good enough to be a contender soon.
I don't disagree with your assessment of Chisora at all, but I would think that it can't hurt to have Teper, then Chisora, and then who knows afterward as a re-entry so to speak back into the heavyweight world after being left out wandering in the woods for a few years.
