Chad was drained and dead at the weight plus he was brutally KO'd in training by edison miranda. paulie could have stopped Chad that night. that's how damaged chad was.

Ward Vs Paul Smith II, again at a 172 catchweight, make it happen, we can call it "repeat or revenge".

I think it was a pretty decent win at the time even with Dawson being drained at the weight. But with Stevenson then brushing Dawson aside in a round and the way Dawson has looked since, it does make you think that Dawson was on the slide already.

It's a win that is now debatable in regards to it's worth because of these issues. I'd rate the wins over Froch and Kessler to be superior wins.

look its a very good win, but the fight with kovalev if it happens, will be the next step above that, simply because hes the one moving up (if it transpires).

it's a tainted win, Ward's career defining win was Kessler, then Froch

If Ward would have went up to 175 and beat him again right after in a rematch both wins would have been spectacular.:deal It would have silenced the critics about Dawson being weight drained!

I rate Froch as Andre Ward's best win. He beat him with a bad hand. The Kessler fight was a defining win but not an impressive performance. There were over 60 clinches in that fight.

Kessler was younger and fresher when Ward beat him, let's not forget Froch is 1-1 with Kessler, only winning the rematch when both had aged quite a bit

though it's true, that was a terrible fight to watch, with Ward's constant holding, elbowing and headbutting Mikkel and the ref allowing him to

so...your criteria for valid is being number 2in the world.

then theres no one else fits that criteria.

no wonder you think its his last valid win, no other win would count.

Chad was drained and well past his best. On top of that he was never THAT good to begin with. He was a solid domestic level fighter (North American) with good skills. His only non domestic win of any note was Tomasz Adamek and even then Adamek was severely weight drained and had to move up in weight for all his subsequent fights. Even in domestic terms Chad Dawson lost to Jean Pascal, Adonis Stevenson and Tommy Karpency.

Wards last real fight was 4 years ago in December 2011 vs Froch. His last fight away from home was NEVER.

And yet Ward beating Dawson is a better win than anything GGG has.

And that has what exactly to do with the thread about Wards fights? GGG fights 2 weight classes lower. If that's the best you can come up with in Wards defence its pretty pathetic.

No, he was world class, but he ended up being a disappointment, and a bit of a headcase. His talent was undeniable though. He was always a frontrunner. Once he got that L, which even that shouldn't have happened, (he was a better fighter than Pascal) he went into the tank.

His best wins end up being old guys, and Adamek.
