Reliably informed this fight will be on 19th December Lee vs. Saunders card.

That is a ****e first defence. Kelly has only won 10 rounders against road sweepers.

That's very poor, didn't expect much but at least fight someone who really fought on the world scene, a gatekeeper or something, its a no win situation for Liam is this, makes no sense at all, no credit for the win, no exposure, very little money for the fight also I would imagine.

Even Mosley would have been poor but at least he has a name

He's the wbo intercontinental champ. ....so he will be smiths mandatory soon ...so makes sense to get it out of the way

Eh I'm sure he's not even ranked in the top 15 by the WBO.

Really doesn't work like that, prospects always get them belts early on to get a world ranking, doesn't mean they become mandated anytime soon.

    Awful fight.

I know people get easy touches for their first defence, but, when you consider how light Smith's resume is for a world champion you would think a fight against a fringe world gate keeper type or faded champion would be best for his career progression.

his last fight was for the vacant wbo intercontinental belt. ...which he won....a defense of his belt then he wouod possibly be smiths mandatory. ...abit like the kell brook frankie gavin situation. ...were je would become brooks mandatory if he beat Chris van heerden
