Wilder must improve his footwork. backing up straight back when attacked is not a good recipe. He is fast has a good jab despite his clumsy footwork so it's a very interesting fight. This content is protected
Povetkin needed 6 months for an F level club boxer and another 6 months of down time. Mike Tyson and Riddick Bowe used blow through those type of guys every month coming up. Boxing today is a joke.
So ?? Wilder is apparently a complete fraud with a glass chin. When Larry Holmes was 36 he fought 12 rounds against Bonecrusher Smith. 10 rounds against David Bey. 15 rounds against Carl Williams. 15 rounds against Mike Spinks. All under 12 months It takes Povetkin a year to box 13 rounds against much lower opposition:tired:dead
Wilder won't be ready for Povetkin by fighting the Molinals, Duphas and the forthcoming Jap fella. Wilder is going to get crushed.
Interesting prediction. Would not have expected that. Povetkin to me is a modern day Jack Dempsey with all his skillset. Great chin, cut resistant skin, and two-fisted power. He slips Wilder's punches and crashes over the top with powerful counter strikes on Wilder's untested chin much as Dempsey did the underrated Giant Jess Willard. Povetkin by spectacular K.O.
Wilder can be hit... Molina was able to get inside and land, counter and hurt him.. Much slower and less skilled than Povetkin, Duhaupas was able to tag Wilder regularly.... Fortunately for Wilder he doesn't have much in the way of power. These guys took Wilder deep, and were able to land... How is Wilder going to deal with Povetkin? He won't be able to take his power for very long.
Obviously, Wilder isn't Wach. Wilder is a level above Wach. Wach actually had some success in the fight with his one-two, left jab, straight right, when he threw it. Problem is, he didn't throw it often or more than a dozen times. Wach has no punch diversity. He only throws jab/right, and his handspeed is about average. Wilder will go to war with Povetkin. Wilder may get hurt in this fight, but I think Povetkin is going to get hurt more as he gets hit a lot. Wilder likes to throw a lot of the punches. I see his jab being highly effective against Povetkin, and much more disruptive and hurtful than those trown by Wach. Wach never threw the uppercut counter against Povetkin who was wide open for it all night. Wilder throws a very good counter uppercut that has Povetkin's name on it. I expect this fight to be a war, with both fighters getting hurt and maybe getting dropped each, but in the end the last man I feel will be standing is Wilder.
A level above Wach???? Based on what? Certainly Wilder is the better athlete, moves better and has crisper punchers but a level above? Wach's sole loses have been to the consensus #1 and #2 heavyweights in the world, nothing to be ashamed of. Wach is a lot more compact, better chin, better defense than Wilder. And I feel like his abilities are underated by some, he's not without skill... He was able to hurt Wlad in the 5th rd, and land a few nice shots on Povetkin...... But you're right Wilder isn't Wach, there's no way in hell that Wilder would have been able to eat even 10% of the shots Wach took, and Povetkin will certainly be able to land on Wilder considering Molina, and Duhaupas were able to without much issue..... Wach may be much slower, but he doesn't make some of the same mistakes that Wilder does. Wilder over moves straight backwards, drops his hands and leave his chin straight up in the air. Amateurish stuff.
Good comments, I think there's truth in them, its a much closer fight than many are opining. If the fight ever happens, I think it would go like this, although I suspect Povetkin would be the one left standing. That said, I'll officially pick Wilder, I always bet against Wilder in his step up fights and always lost. Plus, it would just be great to have a real war like that in as important and hyped a fight as that would be. And if Wilder won, it would make for a much better unification story for a fight with Wlad than if Povetkin won and we had to see Stinkfest Grabalot II.
Wilder will fight another no-hoper, then claim an injury and hold the belt hostage even longer, then want a tune-up.....pathetic
He'll fight him. He's not giving up that belt, never happening. If he did, I'm not like the ones making excuses in advance for him, I will lose respect and no longer be a fan. No desire to see another Rid**** Bowe situation where he blatantly gives up the belt. He'll fight Povetkin in the Kremlin if it comes down to it.
i don't see that povetkin has a whole lot to stop wilder with. he looked very mediocre against wach...struggled with takam. wilder will land his power shots on the button....povetkin will try and work his way in and get blasted...povetkin is slow of foot and hand...he's a plodder. his best shot is, he's a very well-schooled fighter whereas wilder has a YUGE deficit in amateur foundation...so, povetkin can get wilder to keep the fight in close quarters that's his best shot. but more likely wilder catches povetkin with a fast, powerful counter shot early in the fight and effectively puts an end to it...
Wilder went 30 rounds this year in 3 fights... He went into deep water with guys not even remotely as good as Povetkin yet you're convinced he get's him out of there early? Wilders defense is also a lot worse than Povetkins.... He drops his hands quite often, forgets to tuck his chin, moves straight backwards. Looked mediocre against Wach? By winning 12-0? Wilder dropped rounds to Molina and Duhaupas! Molina had him on ***** street, and Duhaupas busted him up pretty good. If Povetkin looked mediocre v.s Wach then Wilder looked terrible against those guys.
