Meldrick taylor vs Kostya Tszyu At 140

Kostya never beat anyone elite. We know Taylor can fight till death. I'm going Taylor wide decision.

 

Taylor's overall ring acumen gets downplayed on here quite a bit...and I guess guess it comes with some legitimate reasoning ie the Chavez fight...but let's just say that Taylor is aware of what he is in there with...a legit one punch KO fighter, and fights accordingly...? He has the tools to give Kostya all he wants. Even after Chavez, Taylor had enough to take a strap at welter...Tough fight. I'd lean towards Taylor at his best to win a decision.

 

chavez came up a few weight classes to meet taylor and stop him. tszyu was a natural at 140.. taylor, totally confident in his speed advantage, would trade with the russian/australian.

The more I watch of Zoo the more I think prime for prime he'd have knocked Hatton out.

Taylor was a terrific athlete but his heart once hurt was questionable and Zoo could hurt anyone.

Look at Floyd when he shipped that huge right from Mosley, could you see Taylor taking a bomb like that and coming back to win? Not me. Zoo by KO.

 

The only 2 guys that " overwhelmed " Tszyu were Phillips, and Hatton, and both took tremendous shots to do so. Taylor isn't taking those kind of shots. It would be more like Judah, Taylor would be throwing a flashy combination, take one big right, and it's good night nurse.

 

I am surprised how one sided this poll is in favor of Kostya.

Prime Taylor almost beat a prime JC Chavez. Kostya had a somewhat similar style to Chavez, but was worse in just about every department, save for right hand power. I think Taylor gets inside the Kosya right hand and outworks him on the inside for a clear UD.

There was a not a damn thing wrong with prime Taylor's chin. He had a BETTER chin than Hatton, that's for damn certain.

Instead of talking **** to everyone here, why don't you direct us to some fights where we can learn more about said fighters? Stop being an *******. We are all here with different opinions and views. Maybe we see things different than you do. Maybe we don't know much about boxing as you do. Maybe we haven't seen as much as you. I'm here to learn more about the sport I love.

Not sure who wins. But meldrick is getting sold short. This guy schooled a prime Buddy McGirt and handed him his only stoppage loss. He outboxed Chavez to a near shut out before falling victim to a bad call just two seconds before being declared the winner. He took a good beating in that fight too then later stepped up and completely outclassed the big and powerful Arron Davis expelling the myth that he couldn't take a shot. The man had supper fast hands, great skill in both arms and awesome athleticism. He was incredibly well conditioned too. And while he was no power hitter, he certainly hurt plenty of guys with those fast accurate hooks and crosses. Some say the Chavez fight ruined him but I'm not so sure. He beat some good guys after that fight and still had some sharp performances. I think the demoralizing defeat to terry Norris is what finally did him in and ended his status as a world beater. If you haven't watched that fight, listen to meldrick when Larry merchant held the mic up to him at he end of the affair. Never did any man sound so defeated.
