I Know Napoles history, but considering he never beat any great lightweights, its a leap of faith to put him in the top 4 at the weight.
He also lost 3 times at, or around the weight, and not to contenders.
You are choosing ,"might have done", over," did do."

I wouldn't say it's a leap of faith to put the Napoles of '64 vintage in with the elite lightweights; you can see him take out Alfredo Urbina in one via YouTube (never before stopped). This was the year in which it all came together, beating future champ Carlos Hernandez in his next effort. Sequential losses to LC Morgan and Backus were purely cut related, emphatically avenged.

Rather small for a welterweight the lightweight Napoles was more potent and is a tough fight for any 135 pounder.

I am sure you can work it out Burt.

Meanwhile the whole of the Middle East, and soon to be, mainland Europe will have to deal with the monster your country created ( known as ISIS ) by it's meddling stupidity in the affairs of Saddam Hussain and Iraq.

Whilst you conveniently batten down the hatches.

I deeply resent the fact that good, honest British, and European folks get blown to pieces going about their daily business, because of the interference of Murica in things never have, nor ever will understand.

All true but does that make him number 2, over the likes of Leonard
    Gans
    Williams
    Armstrong

    ????????

Because that is where he has placed him.

Urbina was 34-11-3 for his first fight with Napoles.

In a head to head, my answer would be yes...I believe Napoles would do very well against Leonard, Armstrong, Gans, and Williams. All great fights...and close fights, considering the level.

My point is Napoles was never ranked in the top ten in his time at the weight, and I can't give him a ranking in the top two for all time on the basis of him beating the likes of Alfred Urbina. But that's my opinion, you have yours, which I asked for and I thank you for it.:good

Why does this moronic trash remain while the reasoned response are deleted?!
It may be time to find another boxing site.

Yeah it's getting to be psychoville around here. Burt and Red didn't type anything offensive.
