Yeah but so did Gina Carano before her. 100 years from now I doubt either of them is considered a WMMA ATG, beyond just being "pioneers".
:good I'm a big fan of Holm's, and she deserves respect for not having the arrogance to go into the sport like her (elite) boxing alone would be enough. Most boxers that transition to MMA only do it for a quick payday, so it's understandable that they're screwed if the stand up striking doesn't work in time. Athletes like Holm tend to be successful in whatever sport they focus on because they're honest about their shortcomings in that particular arena and work to fix them. Rousey made the cardinal sin of completely overrating her own boxing ability and shortchanging one of the best women boxers of all time. I guarantee you that if Holm were to ever face Kaori Icho, the legendary wrestler, she'd never be so foolish as to think she'd outgrapple Icho just because she's worked on it for awhile.
Despite the lost, I think Rousy did a lot for MMA, and maybe even for boxing. PPV sales were declining for MMA until Rousy and McGregor came to the scene. Her feud with Mayweather, for good or bad reasons give boxing some publicity. Some people may not like her, but she help broke a lot of barriers and she is a very good MMA fighter. Holly Holm is just better.

Holm did NOT almost get trapped in that armbar. She escaped it expertly and knew exactly what she was doing (and went about her work calmly) every second while Rousey was attempting it.

Gina Carano headlined a PPV before? Didn't know I was driving today in NYC and saw multiple billboards in prime locations for tonight's Rousey fight within a male dominated sport. It's not something you see often.
Imagine what the Cyborg would have done to Rousey! it would have been a Massacre.. Holm vs Cyborg is the fight to make!
