Lewis's resume completely ****s on Calzaghes joke of a resume. Do you also consider that HW's are the most susceptible to being knocked out? You're definitely in the minority in ranking Calzaghe over Lewis.
I don't know how I forgot about Fitzsimmons. Really the only MW to go up and win the HW championship (I don't consider Jones' win over an alphabet titlist like Ruiz as being in the same realm as what Bob did over 100 years ago.) Also, Ted Kid Lewis should be right up there as well.
By consistently fighting the BEST available in their PRIME. Something Lewis was unable to do. Boxing politics, TV issues, cherry picking all played a role. Froch was simply much more aggressive in seeking out more risky prime fighters than Lewis.
The two times Froch tried to step up to beat the best he failed - first being defeated by a Kessler coming off a loss to Ward then losing convincingly to Ward himself - he was never the undisputed top fighter of his division, and only held the WBC, IBF and WBA (Regular) belts. Calzaghe was recognized as the undisputed best fighter in his division, is the only man to date to have held every relevant title in the Super Middleweights and he moved up to defeat the man considered the best fighter at Light Heavyweight to pick up a title there. Lewis was the undisputed best fighter in his division and is the last man at the time of writing to have been Unified Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. This being besides the point as Froch will never match the greatness of Bob Fitzsimmons - the only British born fighter and one of only two fighters in history to have been a World Champion at Middleweight and Heavyweight, the first man in history to have held a world title at three different weights, and the only man in history to have been Lineal World Champion at Middleweight, Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight.
Froch is not even the best contemporary fighter. I wd rate Hatton higher (if he didn't run into x2 atg he wd have ruled the division). He's tough and faced them all but was 2/3rd in his division. He's way down the list.
Anybody who rates Froch above Calzaghe should give up watching the sport. I'd rate Nas and Hatton higher than Froch in the list of UK ATG's.
H2H i got Lennox as the GOAT Only guy who seems to give him any competition there is Holmes But H2H HW any debate ive seen seems to boil down to these two
Froch has achieved a lot but is overrated. He fought high level of opposition over 5 years but good matchmaking was on his side. He got an opportunity to fight Abraham for the WBC belt he lost the fight before. He lost the super 6 and was given a immediate title shot against Bute. I can't name anyone else who had that happen twice. Also he was beat by Dirrell in an ugly fight.
I agree! Holmes is very underrated H2H. Great resume too. Easily top 5 IMO. His win over Mercer is rarely mentioned and I have no idea why. What a 42 year old Larry did that night deserves nothing but applause.
