froch would be what? 39? that would be impressive....beating him at age 39 is not so impressive

Hagler and Monzon?? I love me some GGG, but that is putting the cart before the horse. I think GGG is clearly the best MW since Hopkins (they were saying the same about Pavlik) and could even say he 'might' have been better h2h. Each guy would be the others 'it' win.

But GGG, his fault or no, has not earned those stripes that would earn that sort of comparison. He hasn't beaten the right guys. Yes, he has been seriously avoided, he has dominated the guys he's fought, and is rightfully THE MAN at MW, but we shouldn't rush to place these guys in the pantheon of the ATG's prematurely. It calls your objectivity into question bub.

I think the guy is right saying that neither Froch or GGG would get the full credit should they fight. That's the unfortunate reality when dealing with older fighters, especially one coming out of retirement. Also the reality when dealing with a guy who hasn't had the opportunity to prove himself against the best,( despite my opinion that he would fair very well). Unfortunate, but true.

Calling guys cowards? They are prize fighters. They may be risk averse, making business decisions priorities over their sporting legacies, but cowards? Were they cowards, they would have found another line of work.

Would you have labelled Calzaghe a coward until he got a plane to fight a 43 year old in the US? Point is, is every guy who makes decisions we don't agree with, or doesn't make the decision we think he should, going to be labelled a coward? It's ridiculous.

 

Well Calzaghe, Hatton and Nas all ruled their division. That is something Froch never did.

He doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Calzaghe.

Golovkin is the guy who KOs anyone who dares to get into the ring with him at 160, so quite a few have been ducking him.

 

Bumlovkin is a contender, not a champion. And being the best of a bad lot isn't saying much.

Froch is a very limited, crude slugger who's chin and stamina got him to world level.

It doesn't matter what he does he isn't going to be ranked greater than either Lewis or Calzaghe, those two and completely different levels of fighter.

 

I dont think Calzaghe did, he benefitted from an injured superior fighter in joes hometown, in kessler, to take his superior titles, and then relinquished them. He did nothing in the way of defences to prove he ruled the division, he only defended the lesser wanted wbo title (and IBF once before running from it).
If Mikk hadnt got injured, joe wouldnt have fought him, nd wouldnhave been stuck with the wbo title until he moved up to LHW for his 40something opponent tour.

Naz on the other hand performed and defended more dominantly than Calzaghe, proving he was capable of defending the lineal title many times rather it just being a matter of lucky timing like joe cal. Even then, Barrera was the man if we are being fair. And if we are being fairer still, Naz stuck with a lesser wbo title for all of his reign.

Hatton certainly dominated more than calzaghe, but it short of "ruling his division". Anyway longevity was his Nemesis, as well as being too brave in challenging prime atgs.


Frochs not dominated,but hes certainly not been anything less than 2nd fiddle as much as these other guys were.

 

I didn't say he had a better resume. But I think he's a better fighter.

It would be a SMW beating a MW, but it would raise Frochs stock, but I couldnt see that win putting him above Lewis, Calzaghe, Eubank, Benn, Hamed that I can think of in recent times
