He's 25 years old. Most guys that age don't have 1 fighter of Cotto's level on his resume. Nor many, if any, world class fighters. He's got a bunch. All in perspective, my man. All in perspective.

Has yet to prove himself though. He can start with Cotto and go on to fight Triple G.

Mayweather, Lara , Trout, Angulo, Kirkland, Mosely(gunshy, old), Cintron, Cotto(if he wins)......they aren't all great names, nor at the top of their games, but for a 25 year old, that is an awesome resume. Consider that he is younger than a lot of the guys out there(yes, he's been pro for a decade and was brought along slowly in the beginning) with far worse resumes.

Does nothing for me if you can't continue to progress and be a great fighter to be considered won of Mexico's ATGs.

He'll have his chance, lets see if those fighters help him in future fights starting with Cotto.

Cotto was willing to fight the best no matter who they were and that was part of the problem. That is what led him to fighting the cheating Margarito when he didn't have to, sending his career into disarray. Then he fights Pac long before he ever gets career back on track with a rookie "trainer", at catch weight, fighting Pac's fight due to rookie trainer.

Eventually goes back on track with P Diaz and has a great showing against Mayweather, one of the best, and definitely better than the "great" Pacquiao. But after fighting at the top and losing he experiences a lack of desire at ill gotten time for his fight with Trout. After that loss he hires Roach and completely decimates three guys in a row, none in a fashion which anyone predicted, and at least two he were clear 2-1 underdogs to. Vegas, an unbiased opinion that only cares about money, has had him underrated for two fights in row. So as of late, I'd say he's underrated.

Fighters who rank higher than Cotto since 2000

    -Trinidad
    -Hopkins
    -Mosley
    -Forrest
    -Wright
    -DLH
    -Mayweather
    -Lewis
    -Vitali
    -Wlad
    -Ward
    -Froch
    -Calzaghe
    -Morales
    -Barrera
    -Pacquiao
    -Marquez
    -Gonzalez

This just off the top of my head. So yes it appears Cotto isn't quite at the very elite of boxing. But he was just one notch below.

Tough crowd. Not everyone is destined to be an ATG. He's only lost to Mayweather, who nobody beat.

Give me a break, he's been built to be that since he signed with Golden Boy.

If he and Golden Boy say they're going to be the PPV kings and have the boxing community saying he's boxing's next superstar then he has to be srutinized at the highest level.

Wlad actually is an ATG dominated HW for a decade, he beat everybody people try to make comparasions with Golovkin but it is none.

Kovalev gets more respect because he actually beat Hop, Jean, etc.
    Loma beat Russell
    Wlad beat everyone
GGG has beaten no one ppl have ever call elite.
Greatness is there for GGG like it is for any fighter but he has to take it.

You can say what you want about close fights, losses, or whatever when you fight enough elite fighters that happens. Every fighter in the history of the sport has had atleast one close fight or a fight ppl think they loss, when I look at guys like Cotto or Donaire, Bradley, Matthysse, Garcia, Gonzalez, Kovalev etc..i see what there doing and then I look at GGG and what he doing his ledger cant hold a candle to any of them yet you want me to praise him as a great that is crazy.

Miguel Cotto has one of the deepest resume in this generation, instead of hating people should hope more fighters try to attain his level.

Meh, can't buy into hype. Popularity and hype don't make a fighter great.

800,000 U.S. dollars for GGG to step aside and let Cott and Canelo pretend to be WBC middleweight champ

What a power move by Cotto

No one at HW Wlad has fought you can really consider elite, he fights everyone out there, same with Triple G. Though we know they're fighters who don't want to fight him.

Triple G is a great fighter, not a ATG. There are many fighters over these last 15 years who fought and have had great resumes. Cotto ranks below most of them IMO.
