Sanders wasn't avoided. He spent his entire career on a bum of the month tour and never beat anyone worth spit before Wlad was kind enough to cherrypick him as a title defense. No disrecpect to Corrie here, but WHY should have Lewis fought him? Or any other champion for that matter? Because he was calling them out? =/

This is just bizarre posting. Sanders was an also-ran for almost Lewis's entire reign.

Sanders was ranked for 13 months between his destruction of Wladimir (something that really actually happened as opposed to "by all accounts") and his own destruction by Vitali. And that, basically, is that.

Lewis himself fought ONE contender during the time Sanders was ranked: Vitali Klitschko.

Your claim that Lewis "avoided" Sanders for a decade is bizarre. Sanders made literally no case until just before Lewis retired, and in the interim he fought the fighter who would crush Sanders and was ranked above him at the time.

Honestly, your posts don't make much sense.

funny how, to the Kliturds, Sanders is only this 6 5 power punching southpaw atg from the moment he easily killed prime wlad

Yet every day before that event, the Kliturds never mentioned Sanders at all, presumably because they saw him just as everyone else saw him, a failed fringe contender heading for retirement. no Kliturd ever wrote "sanders greatest ever southpaw ATG would beat ALI!" before that moment.

but as soon as retired shot2shyte Sanders easily kills prime wlad -OH NO HES THE MOST DANGEROUS SOUTHPAW IN HISTORYYYYY!

Promoter Bob Arum knew all about Corrie Sanders and his punching power, claiming Wladimir must have been crazy taking Sanders on. i suggest you read the Lewis vs McCall (1) fight program, to see how Sanders was being lined up as Lewis opponent.

On the flip side of that you could also point out Ali fought far better competition and never lost to a journeyman a fringe contender and a weak contender during his prime. Personally I'd have Wlad about 10th or 11th. His losses and weak era prevent him from cracking the best of the best for me, but his longevity since keeps him in the ballgame.

This is another good point and the sign of a great fighter in my opinion.

very good. And I suggest you find a kliturd who bigged up sanders as an atg before he killed wlad if you want to refute the point I made, rather than make an irrelevant counter.

Corrie Sanders was a very talented and athletic heavyweight for whom the parade passed by. Well not completely.. He DID get the Klitscko win and a lucrative pay day against Vitali shortly thereafter. But going back to his early prospect days, a rather gifted young hopeful can be seen on film with very fast hands and sound boxing skill. He was definitely avoided by some, but he also fizzled when he was gaining momentum.. In 1994 there was talk of a Sanders vs Moorer bout for the heavyweight title. This came to an abrupt end when Corrie was knocked out in two rounds by the younger brother of Tony Tubbs who never broke out of the journeyman mold. Then years later, he was on a run again when he was battered by Hasim Rahman.. Timing was Corrie's biggest enemy.. That and his lack of devotion to training and boxing in general...

Povetkin has looked pretty good since losing to Wlad and has maintained the #2 spot in the division for a few years now. And I'd like to see what Bryant Jennings does in his next fight.. He's taking on a guy in December who's 23-0.

Jennings would just be a garden variety gatekeeper/ occasional contender in any other recent era. And he's still learning how to box. Povetkin seems like he has a lot of potential but is still relatively unproven at the highest level of the division.

The underlined is total nonsense . Sanders didn't crack the ratings until after March 2003 Lewis had his last fight in June of that year.
