could have been around those figures....i dont know....but him bringing that belt to this fight was worth some extra money....def more than he paid
You can only speculate how negotiations would have gone without the belt but having the belt during the Alvarez negotiations was worth more than the step-aside money. You can believe that.
Imo the split would've been a lot closer to even (I still think Cotto would've gotten more)or the fight would've been off.
So can Golden Boy fight this for breach of contract since the negotiations were based off Cotto being the WBC belt holder?? And he no longer held his end of the deal up?
The WBC had Cotto as it's lineal title. That's enough to start a new lineal champion if Cotto and Canelo don't fight GG. GG would move to #1, and the #2 guy would fight for the new title and establish a new lineal champion.
Absolutely. It's worth remembering that Canelo still has the title to fight for. If Cotto dropped it early, it'd have hurt him because Alvarez would've had no chance at winning it. We as fans may think there's too many belts and they don't add any value, but they do.
basically cotto played things perfectly..... and i still think its funny there are those who are acting like theyve just been liberated from a prison because of this news...acting like the wbc made such an honorable move thats going to save boxing and ggg.....bottom line is this wouldnt have happened if cotto wanted to open his checkbook....and believe this...cottos checkbook is large
Cotto didn't breach anything. He was stripped, and the WBC is saying that they will recognize Canelo as it's champion if he wins which is only right.
:good In my opinion, the TBR is head and shoulders above anything else out there today, bar none. I don't agree with all of their rankings, but as long as our very own McGrain is involved, I trust their integrity far more than any of the many historically corrupt sanctioning alphabet soups. :smoke
