I do feel very weird about talking MMA in a boxing forum. I feel your pain OP. It's just so out of place but some of you guys are so pathetic with this Holy Holm **** that I can't help but to post here. I won't even bother with this nonsense so I'll just copy and paste:

Holy Holm began her fighting career as a KICKBOXER inside of an MMA gym (NOT a boxing gym) under Mike Winkeljohn. Last time I checked that's an MMA guy to the core and so is her other primary trainer Greg Jackson. During her fight with Ronda Lousey it was the elbow (Muay Thai technique) that initially hurt Ronda really bad and the oblique kicks (another Muay Thai technique to hyperextend the knees) that messed up Ronda's horrendous footwork even more. It was also a kick to the head that knocked Ronda out. You wanna talk about footwork and movement? Holm's resembled Lyoto Machida (a karate man) or Alexander Gustaffson much more so than she resembled Mayweather. I really don't see why the boxing community is trying to claim this person and seeing it as a win for them when clearly it's got NOTHING to do with boxing. Holm's is a kick boxer/MMA fighter and all her boxing titles mean nothing other than the possible lack of competition in women's sports. She's the best that women's combat sports overall has to offer. Oh and if you watch that fight again you'll see that Lousey tagged Holms flush across the face several times throughout that fight.

So yeah.... Holy Holms was using her MMA skills to beat another MMA fighter.

Um maybe it's because ground gropers and Zuffa's cheerleading team refuse to embrace Holm, promote her in any way or give her any chance of surviving the first minute against their "Once in a lifetime" "World's most dominant force in Sports" "Best female athlete of this generation" grappling golden goose before Saturday.

Now to avoid the clear and obvious shame that MMA's biggest star was dominated by someone who made her name in the BOXING WORLD the ground gropers want to suddenly claim Holm is and has been a well rounded MMA artist.

Seeing the ground gropers twist around their logic for the sake of internet damage control is pure comedy!

It's called marketing and has little to no basis in reality. The fact that Honda Lousey is female, dominated over low caliber competition (female MMA is still in it's infancy), gained celebrity status and certain people found her attractive (I personally think Holms and Lousey are both f*cking ugly as hell) made Lousey the biggest PPV asset in the history of that sport. It SOLD fights! It was the same with WWE's Brock Lesnar until he met a decorated kick boxer that was as equally juiced as himself that TKO'd him into retirement with a liver kick. This isn't the first time the face of the UFC get's embarrassed yet no other fans of other sports outside of MMA make any embarrassing attempts to live off an MMA fighters (as in Holy's case) victory.

Well, her roots lie in a karate and MMA gym where she trained IN KICK BOXING under MMA trainers which allowed her to win a kick boxing tournament long before she ever stepped foot in a boxing ring. In that sense she was already a mixed martial artist before she began boxing so does her success in boxing make it a win for kick boxing and MMA over boxing? Does her recent win over Lousey make it a win for kick boxing over MMA every bit as much as it does for boxing?

You have many MMA guys that made their names in olympic style wrestling and Brazilian Jujutsu. They cross train in other arts and become good (for MMA standards). When they win should they also be considered wrestlers and nothing more even if the wrestling played a very minor role in their success? Should the victory go to wrestling or jujutsu?

I really hope you begin to see how ridiculous your crowds argument is. Especially when the ring/octagon announcer himself announces her as a kick boxer. NOT a boxer. LOL

It goes both ways. The boxing fans aren't making it any better on themselves either through their false logic. The MMA fans are arrogant imbeciles (as always) and the boxing fans only show uncertainty and insecurity in their own sport. Why else would they live through the success of a female mixed martial artist?

Haha oh god, she's a career boxer period.. She had a couple of kickboxing amateur fights in her early 20s, to claim she's a kickboxer now for damage control is the most hilarious **** I've seen. MMA fans are truly pathetic.

And this whole MMA-Boxing thing was never started by boxing fans, it's not like MMA came along and boxing fans went like "Oh **** there's a new player in town, let's **** all over it".

Nope, the way MMA was PROMOTED was by bashing boxing, claiming it's more exciting (which is subjective, for me there's nothing exciting about two cavemen bashing their heads in) or that it's more "realistic" (boxing is a sport, we don't go around claiming it's street fighting).

MMA fans of course constantly compared it to boxing and bashed boxing in the same manner with their limited knowledge of it... So now boxing fans will take any opportunity they can to annoy these rascals.

EDIT: Rather than MMA, maybe I should say UFC...

Right  Let's keep glossing over the facts. Here, let me help you out.

    1) Holm's trained in kick boxing under Mike Winkeljohn's MMA gym for a good 4-5 years before getting involved in boxing. She's been training under that MMA dude since she was 16 years old LOL. You don't have to believe me. Watch this video between the 1:30 - 1:48 mark. It only takes 18 seconds of your time to confirm the facts and highlight the stupidity possessed by your crowd of pretenders.

By your crowds own logic you could say that MMA or kick boxing beat boxing 19 different times every time Holy became world champion. Holm's has been training MMA long before Lousey has.

    2) Holm's has NEARLY as many fights on record IN MMA as Honda Lousey. That OFFICIALLY makes Holme's a career MMA fighter. Wait... let's ignore the facts. We're supposed to pretend Holm's is a boxer. A "career boxer" at that... PERIOD :rofl

To beat Lousey Holm's only moved and fought like a disgustingly watered down version of Lyoto Machida, Cowboy Cerrone or Jon Jones than any pro boxer.

    3) She was officially declared a kick boxer by the octagon announcer seconds before the fight even started. Is that also a conspiracy for damage control? Again, you don't have to believe anything I say. Go and watch it and listen closely.

She sure spent a helluva long time training in kick boxing for a good 4 - 5 years in her teens to early 20's to win a kick boxing championship LOL. To sweep her kick boxing and MMA training (MMA training long before Lousey even began hers) under the rug and claim it as a win for boxing especially when ALL female combat sports lack any real competition is indicative of an inferiority complex and lack of trust in boxing as a combat sport. Why does MMA threaten you?

Holms career in boxing far surpasses anything she's done in MMA or Kickboxing, she's a boxer first, I don't care how she's been introduced. She had 9 kickboxing fights (6 amateur and 3 professional seemingly), 33 professional boxing bouts many of which are at championship level and 10 MMA bouts...

But okay, she's a kickboxer man because it makes our sport not look as bad after we spent all our time ****ting on boxing claiming how superior MMA is!

Do you have any idea who Holms boxing trainers are? The Winkeljohn and Greg Jackson dude perhaps? Those are MMA trainers.

Have you heard of Holy Holm or even followed a day of women's boxing before the Drowsy fight? I sure as hell haven't and I'm 99.9% certain those same people claiming it as a win for boxing haven't either. Women's combat sports (including women's boxing) sucks.

Here's another fact. Currently there are MMA guys (not incompetent women hyped by the UFC) that never stepped foot in a boxing gym that can box aeons better than Holy. Not box better than male professional boxers but Holy specifically. The best "boxer" to ever step foot inside an MMA octagon.

If and when Holy loses is she going to revert back to being a boxer a kick boxer or an MMA fighter? The mental gymnastics on that one is gonna be interesting.
