After Ronda got her MMA boxed and kicked out along with 3 PPVs in a row I get the feeling Cotto/Canelo might not hit 600K
    Thoughts?
I always felt this rival would hit big numbers but the buzz is lower than I expected:think

    In the PPV Favor:

Puerto Rico vs Mexico history and rivalry
Canelo is an upcoming star in boxing
Cotto does seem to be in big fights
    Miura on the undercard

    Working against the PPV Favor:

Mayweather vs Pacquiao, GGG vs Lemieux, Rousey vs Holm all 3 were on PPV.....will people buy another PPV this year
It is nearing the holiday season, money will be tight for some
Neither fighter willing to fight GGG
ROC Nation not established enough in the fight game

My honest opinion, I believe this PPV will do about 750k in sales. This could be the last time we see Cotto, and love him or hate him, he has been in some great fights (Margarito 2x, Pacquiao, Mayweather, etc).

What's wrong with 750k in sales? It is still a pretty amazing result. May-Pac is a terrible yard stick to measure the success of the fights, that even had boxing fans ****-teased for 5 years.

You forgot the biggest con of them all: Mayweather-Berto :lol:
Good points with holiday season/spending, I expect 800k tops.

    Anything over 500K is a win/win:thumbsup
The price is now above $55 and with three PPV in a row I expect 600-650K
Cotto by KO or a total rip on the scorecards because Cotto refused to pay belt fees:?:?

Never said anything was wrong with 750k in PPV sales, I was giving my estimated guess on what I think the fight will bring in...!!!

According to abuffy it needs 1million PPV buys to even make a profit.. Anything less is a failure of a PPV. But 150k in ppv buys is a success.

According to Abuffy they need 1 million PPV buys to generate a profit. Anything less puts GGG in the drivers Seat with his 150k in PPV buys against Canelo. Anything under 1mill is a failure in her eyes.

    It will sell between 800k-1mil

Not bad, but the promotion might not make money because the Diva thinks he's all that when he's really a B level fighter at this time.

Anything below 1 million is a loss because they would have failed to make profit and instead the promoters themselves would have to cut a check in order to compensate and get everyone (the fighters) paid.

Basically, 1 million is their breakeven. Check Steve Kim's twitter for more info.

750K would be a disaster. 500K and you'd see people jumping out of windows.

Why? You can thank Cotto and Canelo's guarantee for that...

Cotto is not a B level fighter by anyone's standards. They are both A level guys, spoiled by Mayweather's example

Cotto vs Canelo has been talked about for at least a year its kind of like May-Pac, people know what it is no need for all that extra stuff.

How much are Cotto and Canelo making??? 1 million buys is 70 million dollars just off of PPV alone!

There is also the gate and whatever the casino is paying to have the fight. There is no way they only break even if they do 1 million buys you are insane and so is Steve Kim if he thinks that same thing
