I think Chavez gives him a thorough beat down. Cotto was less refined and more susceptible at 140, and he's never come across as a great fighter, unlike Cavez Sr.
Cotto was naturally bigger, but at 140 he didn't beat any really tough competition. He had trouble in a couple of wins there. I think Chavez would stop him late. Chavez was the much more durable of the two.
Chavez would have his way with Cotto. It would most likely be a gradual beatdown until it is stopped in about 8 rounds. Small chance Chavez knocks Cotto out early. Zero Chance Cotto stops Chavez (or wins, for that matter).
Ah, nationalistic pride. But yeah, he crushes Cotto. In addition to just being a couple levels above Cotto in talent and accomplishment, Cotto was also a bit dried out at that weight. He stands almost no chance.
I'm actually not. Just wanted to stir the pot. Especially with Cotto-Canelo week. Nor has Chavez ever lost to a Puerto Rican. He's batting a thousand in that category. Ok? :huh What's wrong with that? Is there some sort of problem with someone showing "nationalistic pride"?
