Why did Wlad insist on a rematch clause with Fury?

Fury has said he signed a rematch clause with Wlad. He was probably paid handsomely for it. But why does Wlad think he needs one?

Wlad is a massive favorite, he shouldn't be worried about defeat.

I think that's just a formality. Most champs do that.

Its quite rare in mandatory defenses though. First time I ever heard of it was Vitali vs. Solis. Now Wlad vs. Fury.

Solis got €300,000 for signing the rematch addon. Curious how much Fury was paid extra for the even of him getting lucky and winning this.

Some do for voluntary defenses. However, rematch clauses are almost never imposed for mandatories.

It's not going to matter anyway, since Fury is not in the same league in terms of ability. Wladimir will make it a non-issue on fight night. :bbb

It wouldn't have been if it got to pursebids, then the standard mandatory rules apply.
It actually already did, but then Fury's team instantly signed when some Russion Billionaire wanted to bid on it.

He can always lose a fight the way his brother lost vs Byrd. Dominate for 7-8 rounds and then withdraw due to some self inflicted, decapacitating injury.

If Lewis hadn't had a rematch clause vs Rahman, Rahman would probably never give him a rematch and Lewis would be ff'ed. It's a career/legacy saving insurance at times.

Well there's a chance that Wlad throws out his back and falls out of the ring while ktfoing fury with a crunching left hook. Wlad being crippled from said blown out back, wouldn't be able to climb back in and Fury would win by default due to still being in the ring albeit unconscious

Kinda like how Dustin Nichols lost to Wilder. After violently dropping Wilder, he walked out of the ring to pick up his order of bacon wrapped pork ribs at the ringside foodtruck and was counted out as a tko.
