I'll certainly agree he tko'd better opponents. Frazier actually ko'd very few men.His left hook was great because he could throw it all night with accuracy and speed.

Because Frazier countered an uppercut, if anything that just proves his left hook is better even more. I don't care what you say that hook would've dropped anyone, including Tyson and Foreman. Most wouldn't have gotten up.

Frazier certainly rolled onto his left hook better but I preferred watching morrison who stood more upright in the way Florentino Fernández did.kill or be killed in other words.

Four counting Wepner. What does that tell us? Frazier couldn't floor Bonavena in 2 fights. Foley and Ellis did ,and Ali kod him ,flooring him 3 times.
Did any of them hit harder than Frazier?

It's strange but Ali ate Fraziers left hook for two fights after the FOTC, Frazier really had Ali nearly out of there in their first fight but Ali took some monster shots in the other bouts without being in serious trouble.

Ali was in serious trouble in fight three. Part of Ali's greatness was his ability to absorb punishment, be hurt badly but not outwardly showing it. As an example Ali was badly hurt in both round six and eleven in 75. As per Frazier " I hit him with punches that would have knocked down the walls of a city but he just stood that".

Regarding left hook power....a hook is a slashing punch and many times won't have the effect as compared with straighter punches. No one who fought Frazier would say he did not punch very hard. Chuvalo described Fraziers power like being hit by a truck going 50 miles an hour. Norton who sparred many times with Frazier attested to his power as did Ali. Finally Dempsey had the best thrown and hardest left hook in boxing history. Incredibly short incredibly powerful

I think Ali was in more trouble in the 11th round of FOTC than in the 15th.

Was this thread started by an UncleTermite alt?

He seems to have a fascination with Tommy Morrison over 70s heavyweights.

For the record, Ali was only down once in the 70s.

Ali was officially down twice in the 70's. Frazier in 71 and Wepner in 75. Photos pretty much show Wepner stood on Ali's lead foot and it was this that caused the KD. So an official KD but not a real KD.

Perhaps in terms of just power yes. But in terms of the all around package of speed, accuracy, and like you say volume, I think we'd be hard pressed to find anyone who matched his left.

And that was because of Smoking Joe.

Sorry I don't count the Wepner Knockdown' as legitimate.

Standing on someones toe while their moving back/off balance and hitting them with a flimsy punch does not constitute a KD in my eyes.
