So basically Cotto is scamming GGG out of his step-aside cash?

No one has to pay anything and anyone can declared bankruptcy, ask 50 cent and Donald Trump.
Back to the topic. The WBC screwed GGG not Cotto

WBC could've done the right thing and gave GGG the belt. But, there's no money in that. And that's all it's really about. Cotto is a saint compared to the WBC.

Nor do they understand about something as basic and fundamental as contingencies.

Cotto is a scumbag who deceived a fellow boxer promising the step aside fee and then refusing to pay.

He doesn't know what decency is, and neither do people who side with him.

Haha. Decency? Demanding 800K for step aside... that's almost half of what he got for his last fight which was like the most he's made thus far afaik. That said you fundamentally do not understand what a contingency is. No one unless they're a re**** says I'll pay you X dollars no matter what, rain or shine. There's always a clause, otherwise there's no protections. Technically there is no stepping aside as Cotto is no longer the belt holder. How he got to the belt being stripped is immaterial to the dispute. If Cotto gave up the belt 8 months ago, there would have never been a need to step aside anyways, haha. Much ado about nothing.

Nobody demanded 800k. Cotto could just face his mandatory, but he was too scared and offered 800k for Golovkin to step aside.

Contingency is not something you create, and the lost belt is all Cotto's fault.

What do you mean no one demanded 800K? If no one demanded it why you ****ing care then? Cotto losing the belt is between him and the WBC. It's immaterial unless there was a clause in their supposed contract stipulating he must pay whether he is the WBC belt hodler or not. Which is like you know... re****ed!

You don't know what is in their contract any better than I do, so stop f@cking pretending to be a lawyer.

Once again, nobody demanded 800k. Golovkin would much rather kicked Cotto's a$$ and get the belt. They had an agreement that Cotto pays 800k for Golovkin to step aside, but Cotto cheated. "I decided to not pay a sanctioning fee" is not a contigency.

GGG lost time. He could of been fighting for the WBC belt tomorrow whether it be against Cotto or a WBC contender, but he stepped aside because Cotto offered him $800K. So this is easy win in court. Cotto's own team are saying they are unsure what they must do now. Clearly they haven't thought this through. And it was all over an extra 150K, not 300K, because Cotto offered the WBC $150K, but they rejected.
