There's always a clause, otherwise there's no protections. Technically there is no stepping aside as Cotto is no longer the belt holder. How he got to the belt being stripped is immaterial to the dispute. If Cotto gave up the belt 8 months ago, there would have never been a need to step aside anyways, haha. Much ado about nothing.

GGG lost time. He could of been fighting for the WBC belt tomorrow whether it be against Cotto or a WBC contender, but he stepped aside because Cotto offered him $800K. So this is easy win in court. Cotto's own team are saying they are unsure what they must do now. Clearly they haven't thought this through. And it was all over an extra 150K, not 300K, because Cotto offered the WBC $150K, but they rejected.
