Well, Doug Jones stopped Foster and he was only like 180 pounds. You can say he was green but Roy wasn't getting knocked out at his peak either. Also, Foster isn't a southpaw like Tarver.
You've got to ask yourself, would Foster's left hook shatter Roy's glass chin into millions of little pieces?
You've got to ask yourself, would Foster's spindly legs and lack of defense leave him slumped on the canvas?
If Roy used his speed and boxed on the retreat could win on points.if foster closed the range and wore him down Roy is toast one mistake and its all over.
There weren't any 168 lb. light heavies 'back then'. Middleweight 160, Lt. Heavy 175...before all this in between 'new title' BS started. End of non-issue...
Everyone saw the Jones-Ruiz fight for what it was. A plodder who Roy could decision. Jeez o pete that is SO overrated. And Roy had beefed up for Ruiz, Bob came in against Frazier and Ali just a bit bigger than his 175 lb. natural weight. Again, end of non-issue...
I think a green Foster, yes a green Foster, was a last minute substitute in that fight...may have been against Terrell as well. It gets tired debating this nonsense, Roy truly is an ATG IMO but everyone wants to put the modern boys in the past and say they'll wipe out anyone in their path. atsch
And by the way N_N_ do you want to put your bloated 'Heavy' Roy against a prime 1970 Smokin' Joe or against Ali (who Foster cut, only time Ali was cut?) Once again end of non-issue...u "You can say he was green but Roy wasn't getting knocked out at his peak either." What are you saying? Foster wasn't KO'd at his peak except for Joe and Muhammad and Roy was getting stopped, and he wasn't 'green'. What the heck are you saying? Roy is an ATG, can't you just leave it at that?
I think he meant to say that the 168 guys who Roy fought, would have been LHW's back in Bob's era. The guys who fight/fought at 168, generally have/had a fight night weight of around 175 pounds. Roy weighed 174 against Toney, so I would probably use that version of him in any fantasy fight against a fellow LHW. I think this would have been a very dangerous fight for Roy.
