    Cabalera weighed 5.5lbs overweight

Haskins rejected a catch weight fight due to the weight

That's a shame, I was looking forward to their fight. Still though, he did the right thing, too many fighters aren't taking weight seriously these days. I just hope Haskins still gets a slice of his purse.

It would be nice to get a pre-Xmas defence on one of the big shows

Gotta feel for Lee, but getting the belt should be some consolation.

Surely they will impose a heavy financial penalty on Cabalerro, and compensate Lee ?

5.5 pounds over for a bantemweight is ridiculous ,he must have known for a long time he couldn't make weight

    Agreed.

At Bantam, 5.5lbs is a huge percentage of body weight.

I hope him and his team get whats coming to them.

Complete shambles, and has wasted lots of peoples money.

I know haskins did the right thing not taken the fight. He was a featherweight for Christ sakes

Yet another american who ruined his career with inactivity and now can't make weight

If I read it right, Haskins won't receive any of the purse as he refused the offer of a catchweight, thus, he leaves Vegas with the IBF Bantamweight title, but no money in his pocket.

Glad Haskins refused to take the fight.

I predicted a Haskins win on a thread, can I claim it as a correct result?

Haskins is the new champion, did it in great style, Willie Pep style, without throwing a single shot.

The British are taking over, We are coming for the lot.

I am too, the weight Caballero came in at was a complete joke, I hope he is fined very heavily. Total disgrace, I am disgusted they even suggested a fight at that weight difference.

I might forgive a few ounces, maybe, even that is a cheek but 5.5lb over at that weight says to me he never even tried to make weight and thought Haskins would be so desperate for a payday, a "bonus" and US exposure he would take a ridiculous catchweight.

On a positive I am delighted Haskins is a world champion.

Unlikely. In most Commissions in the US,the over weight boxer is fined a percentage of his purse in which the Commission takes half and his opponent takes half.By refusing to fight in an overweight bout,Haskins would receive only the penalized amount and the promoter gives him a reasonable amount of expense monies. He would not receive the full amount of his original purse guarantee. The fight never happened.

Haskins is correct not to fight, as previously mentioned 5.5ibs is a lot of weight and those very low divisions. If I was Eddie Hearn I would try and do a deal with Chris Saniger to get him added to 02 bill on the 12th Dec. Saniger now has two world champs in his stable, some going.
