Idk, I tend to have more faith in than JayZ, a man worth half a billion dollars, than a bunch of posters on a boxing forum who spend their time discussing Dustin The Worm Nichols. A large majority of businesses operate at a loss their first few years. And its not like Roc Nation sports is ONLY promoting boxers. They've probably made an asston of money off Robinson Cano's $200Million contract. YDKSABusiness.
agreed its funny to think that these guys think that a rap star from brooklyn is like "hey lemme give this guy 10 mil".....like he doesnt have ivy league trained businessmen and guys with boxing backgrounds in the offices
CST80 = Stupidest internet poster ever. Have you made even 5% of what Jay z has made? He is Clearly a VERY good business man. What you said is simply idiotic.
10 million dollars to fight Drian Francisco the 95th ranked guy in his division. They gave Andre Ward 2 million dollars for Paul Smith and Miguel Cotto got 15 million to fight Geale. By my calculation Roc Nation is already about 20 million in the hole. They'd better pray that the pay per view does 1 million buys or they aren't going to be able to cover the 30 million dollar nut for Cotto fighting Alvarez. Is this even less sustainable than Haymon and PBC losing 200 million in the first year? They put on about fifty shows before they lost that kind of money. Roc Nation is going to be out of business in half that.
Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield each made 500 million dollars, then they lost it all and went bankrupt like JayZ is about to.
I'd guess this is like investing in futures, very high risk speculation. Anybody know what the terms are?
I watched a 39 year old Daniel Zaragoza school Wayne McCullough yesterday on youtube. Zaragoza had Nacho Beristain in his corner and moved a little like the 39-40 year old Juan Manuel Marquez. I'd say that Rigondeaux is at their level. Oh, and Eder Jofre.
Yes, but businesses that operate at a loss have an expectation of growth. The four stages of the product lifecycle are introduction, growth, maturity, and decline. Rigo is at the beginning stages of decline. Additionally, he's never been a cash cow in the first place. He's a businesses that no other businesses are interested in because he likely represents a negative NPV. Jay Z should know this. He should invest in guys that are younger that can make money. Jaz Z should have made a concerted effort to go after Lomachenko or Gary Russell. No point in going after Rigo.
You don't have to be in the Ivy League to see that Rigo is not a good investment. You have to know your product. If Jay Z realistically believes he can profit off a product with a very low customer base then good for him. He found a way to exploit the market. We'll see though. Are you hyped for Rigo fights?
Im just about old enough to remember that fight and he didnt school McCullough. Impressive at his age though
Not really. 50 ****ed off: Arum, Oscar, Haymon and Floyd, of course SMS was going to fail. He made sure that no one would work with him.
According to Compubox he landed 139 more punches and his accuracy was way above that of McCullough 45% to 32%. He won the fight 8 rounds to 4, so it wasn't a shut out but it was still fairly dominant. The last two rounds were far and away the best. It turned into a bit of a slugfest as McCullough realized he needed a knockout to win. Of course, that fight has nothing on Zaragoza's fights with Banke for action. Those are classics.
Good for Rig. Hopefully RSN can get him some fights. A lot of boxers just aren't keen on fighting the Cuban Olympian because he's so good and doesn't have the following that is worth the risk.
