Again, fighting for that prestigious title brings responsibilities. You can't bask in the glory, but then not be willing to defend it at the limit.

Nobody forced him to fight for the lineal belt. When he signed the contract, he committed to becoming a MW.

canelo should vacate the belt if he is not ready to defend or fight middlewts,remember when hatton fought collazo and realized he didnt want to continue fighting the best welterwts?he vacated the title and fought at 140 lbs where he had more advantages,he didnt make fights and have guys like margarito or other tops welterwts fight him at 141 or 142 lbs,but he still got credit for the title he won as canelo did.canelo won the linear middlewt title,it goes down in history.canelo should vacate the title,ggg will pick it up and finish unifying the division and later when canelo is ready he can challenge the undisputed champ at 160 lbs and of co**** be another notch on gggs k.o.belt.

Canelo was 171lbs on fight night against Lara, when they met at 155lbs c/w.
He probably weight more then Golovkin, but he is younger and thats why he want to met him at c/w.
Canelo is a nice guy i like him, but Championship fight should took place in a appropriate weight division. The belt is in 160, so he should fight at 160 or simply drop the title, thats it.
Gennady is mandatory so if Canelo want a c/w and not want to fight at 160 he should be stripped.
Catchweight should be for non title fight and when both fighters want the fight big.
And i dont know how there is a guys here who try to defend Canelo for trying to get a c/w with Golovkin for a title that is defend at 160.

Good points. Although Ricky's circumstances were different, and I think what Canelo is stipulating is an absolute joke, especially as he enters the ring weighing as much as what a LHW weighs in at.
