GGG shouldn't fight below 158. Absolutely not. Let Canelo be stripped, take the belt, then get the rest. Once Canelo finally wakes up and moves to 160 then going through GGG will be his only option, at least to get a belt.

 

Haha, guess what, if GGG loses because he's drained that's a valid excuse and there's nothing you can do to change that. Sorry bro, but if Canelo beats GGG at 155, he's not getting full credit, the only way to do so is to beat GGG at 160.

GGG cannot use that as an excuse as he agreed to it, it'd be rather hypocritical and un-classy of him to do so. But as fans and when it comes to boxing discussion it's a perfectly valid reason to take credit away from that win.

The only concession Golovkin HAS to make is money. He will take 25% of the purse. He doesn't have to make concessions on weight. If Canelo refuses to fight at 160, Golovkin will just get the belt. He could show a good will and sell a couple of pounds (not more than 3) to Canelo if Cinnamon is ready to pay good money for that.

 

Gotta agree with you here. I do not waste my time complaining about things beyond my control and so I don't care if Canelo gets G at a cw but should Canelo win he will not get full credit from me. People should make no mistake, this would be a star using his power to twist G's arm into a cw.

It's not simply, "oh well, G agreed" Should G lose he can fight a couple times reestablish dominance and Canelo should give him a rematch with no cw if he wants his full credit. I am under the firm belief that all cw requested wins should have an asterisk by them.

More weight divisions and more belts werent implemented to gain viewership, they were implemented to increase sanctioning fees received by orgs and are generally thought to have diluted the sport and dispersed interest. Especially in the USA, where casual sports fans are conditioned to need to know who the real "champ" is.

 

Honestly, the way you started your post made it seem like you misunderstood me so I just clarified my position. But yeah, it seems like we basically agree.
