This ^. I like both guys, prefer GGG, but I'm trying to be objective and just can't see how Canelo wins. But of course it is boxing and anything can happen. Funny - there is a number of guys who seem genuinely convinced that Canelo possesses a level of excellence I maybe just ain't picking up on, so much so that I've taken the time to rewatch his last half dozen or so fights, which has actually increased my appreciation of his skills... but I still ain't seeing how he beats GGG.
Also fair. The thing about GGG that sells me is that he has demolished guys that other elite fighters have had far more problems with. Every guy. He hasn't struggled once. If struggling means that he goes late into a fight before dispatching an opponent decisively, winning basically every round, then that shows how high the bar is set. He's not unbeatable as some would claim, no one is unbeatable, but I don't think we've even seen the guy even have to kick it into 2nd gear yet. Maybe I'm wrong. Canelo is crisper than Lemieux and more well rounded offensively and as a whole, but he doesn't have Lemieux's power, which didn't seem to budge Golovkin at all. He'll have to box Golovkin to win, which in terms of footwork and position and controlling distance, is also solidly in Golovkin's corner. Canelo might be the better counter-puncher. Canelo would need to hit him with something he doesn't see coming, and finish him, to win. The definition of a puncher's chance. That's just how I see it.
The day GGG goes life and death with Austin Trout - is the day I humor myself with Canelo beating GGG.
GGG has fought all Kirkland/angulo caliber opponents and we all know how canelo disposed of those guys.
I wouldn't call Martin Murray that caliber for one. The guy should have won a title at 168. Them two guys you named could barely s**** at a title at 154
He'll do the same thing to Canelo. Despite what people think on here, Canelo doesn't have THAT great of power. It's overrated. It doesn't pose a danger to GGG than someone like Lemieux. GGG could win against Canelo solely off his jab and follow a similar game plan that he used against Lemieux; however, I think once GGG realizes Canelo has nothing for him, he'll come out more aggressive as we've seen him against other punchers who GGG knew wouldn't be able to hurt him i.e. Macklin, Geale, Murray, Monroe, etc.
The day GGG beats an Elite A-level fighter- is the day i humor myself with GGG being any good and capable of beating Canelo.
Does a Porshe actually have to beat a shopping cart for you to understand which one is faster? Is that why your vcash is at 6? because you can't actually see the ability of a fighter?
"Life and death" (he knocked him down and had him doing the stanky leg) against the guy that destroyed cotto. GGG fans are desperate for a canelo fight, he's the only guy that would legitimize his legacy.
Who cares about Vcash, i made a few bets for the Lara fight and will have over a g when it's paid out:deal... But Look in Kirks league thread to see where im at in terms of judging a fighters abilities:hi:.. BUt huh, but huh you can probably figure that out for yourself, now can't you!!:mj
I think were making solid Points as to how our guys stacks up against the other, and man my mouths watering because of it! It's a great fight and i hope they get it done.
Everyones talking about Canelo's power remind me again what top level fighters has Stevens,Rubio,Lemieux etc beat let alone KO'd? Y'all are basing this off of GGG beating guys WHO HAVE NEVER BEATEN A TOP LEVEL OPPONENT EVER. How can you compare the two.
