Lewis vs Vitali. Was there ever a bigger demand for a re-match in the past 20 years?

There was no demand from Lewis's mom.

Thrashing your opponents' face so badly it resembled a ******... yeah.. I think it's fine fashion.

Don't blame Lewis for Vitali's defense being leaky and taking constant damage to the face. :yep

But the fight ended due to a cut, not the looks of someones face. I think that just us two discussing this still is an obvious reason for the call of a rematch.

People have been debating this for years now, who cares?

Lewis won and it's only a certain group of posters who find fault in this win.

He battered Vitali's face until it resembled a bleeding ******. End of.

    Another way to win boxing

MVC is a well know troll so dont mind him.
Lewis had luck in this match. The punch that cause the cut was a glancing blow, then he open it with an illegal punches, and its clearly see in the video Mendoza post. You are not allow to hold with 1 hand and punch with the other.
Rematch was 100% need it, Lewis knew he would lose and retire.
Not to mention how bad he looks in the interview. He was shock.

Of course! De La Hoya-Trinidad II was highly demanded even more so than a Lewis-Vitali rematch.

I think ODH-Trinidad would have been a way bigger event. ODH was the king of PPV's until Floyd took over. So no it's not the biggest rematch left on the table. Ali - Foreman II might also have been a bigger event, if the $$$ was converted into 2003 dollars.

You care to make a wager on that? 2 weeks before Vita was called in as a replacement Lewis said he had accomplished all he could in boxing. He said he wanted one more super fight before he retired and said it would either be Vits or Jones. Vits got his shot, Lewis retired...end of. Name your bet and I will provide the link....again.

Good mentions, you may well be right. They're all on a short list of contenders for the title.
