Not a chance. DeGale has a superior mandible and punching power. That and Bute fights like a scared rodent and starts coming apart with every attack.
DeGale is coming in a little too arrogant for my tastes. Even when a guy is years past his best like Bute, you can't afford to prepare like he is. Especially with the home crowd behind him...you never know when they can turn the clock back one last time...
I expect a minor upset to happen here. When DeGale fades, Bute takes over. This is either going to be mighty close or DeGale gets stopped late.
This isn't an easy one to pick, Bute is still a live opponent and has skill, speed and power to trouble DeGale. The most worrying point for me is DeGale's ability to maintain a consistent level of output. If Bute hangs in there early, then he can come back seriously in the middle rounds.
Bute is just as skilled as DeGale, and imo is the bigger more proven puncher of the two. Having said all that, Bute has looked awful, and totally gunshy since losing to Froch. Maybe fighting at home will inspire Bute, but i fear he is too fragile mentally.
Bute is a live underdog. If he catches DeGale with a good bodyshot, he could win back the title. DeGale looks like he's taking Bute lightly, and that never works well in boxing.
