I doubt that very seriously. The rules and regulations are that there is a limit for each weight division. If the fighters want to restrict those rules they should enter into a contract and fight outside of it being a "World title" fight. I see what you're saying though, if both fighters dont have a problem with a catchweight limit, why should an alphabet group intervene?........in a perfect world they should'nt. The problem comes say if GGG rejects fighting at 155 lbs against Canelo and Canelo is then allowed to defend the title against someone else. Alphabet groups need to enforce their own rules. If both fighters negotiating for a championship fight are ok with a catchweight, fine......but if one of the fighters isn't then the organization needs to stand by its rules and drop that fighter from its rankings and have the next ranked fighter in that division fight for the title. If it were just about rules and regulations everything would be so simple, unfortunately the alphabet groups are in it for the $$$ as is everyone involved in the sport.
As I said in my previous post about a perfect world...... We all know that the alphabet groups wouldn't like it that their champion fight outside of the window of defending his world title belt. THEY WANT A SANTIONING FEE!
Which would raise the question, why not, when he supposedly was willing to come down lower for Floyd?
Is'nt making demands what the fighter with the drawing power always does? This goes on all the time, Canelo isn't the first fighter to make demands weight or otherwise. You guys talking about Canelo being yellow are fooling yourselves. Boxing is a business. Canelo and GBP understand that letting Canelo vs Golovkin fight simmer and percolate will attract more fans down the line so that it becomes a huge event. Canelo fighting Golovkin next doesn't outsell the Cotto fight that just happened, that's why GBP making this fight happen next is not a wise business decision. I think if both fighter take on a couple of fights in 2016, the buildup to a matchup in the spring of 2017 between Canelo and Golovkin would be huge. Right now its a 1 million ppv fight. Waiting another year will more than double that buyrate. The matchup as it stands now has not had a chance to work up to the casual fans.
He's comfortable until he tries it one too many times and his kidneys explode  http://www.scifighting.com/2013/12/...e-career-ending-kidney-issues-fighters-avoid/
Here's the deal einstein, Canelo will use the weight issue as a negotiating ploy just like Floyd used it against him and like GGG is using it on others, remember "I'll fight anyone from 154-168"? It's ****py but part of the business, how long have you been a fan? Let me guess, since GGG started making a name for himself?
Fine and dandy. Its up to the WBC to do the right thing and strip Canelo. As long as the WBC lets Canelo write the rules spew your venom to the WBC, not Canelo. Teddly Atlas explains it 100% here.......Does'nt blame Canelo one bit, its boxing politics! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRYRqPt3Hn0
Canelo has been a "MW" champ for about 4 days now and all these keyboard warriors are calling him a coward.
:yepPretty much! These clueless GGG fans are so enamored with him that they don't even want to begin to understand the business side of fighters, promoters, and everything that goes with negotiationg and making a big fight. Personally, I don't think Canelo vs Golovkin is going to come about in 2016. GBP would be doing Canelo a disservice by signing him to fight GGG next. The matchup is not anywhere close to being at peak interest, and if you're going to match a money making draw like Canelo with a dangerous fighter like Golovkin, the promoter has to make certain the risk is worth the reward. Right now it simply isn't. So unless GGG is willing to take about an 80/20 split, this fight is not going to happen even if Golovkin were to agree to a weight of 155 lbs. For this fight to happen, both fighters and the promotion has to make a good chunk of money, at this point that isn't ready to happen. The fight needs more buildup to the casuals for it to make financial sense. This fight does not make financial sense to Canelo just as moving up to 168 lbs to face Ward doesn't make sense for GGG. Financially neither of those fights are anywhere near its PPV selling peak.
atsch Hhmmmm... this really is not difficult if... The WBC exercises/follow the rules. Canelo accepted the bout with Cotto knowing that the winner must fight the mandatory contender or be stripped of the belt. The rest of this is nonsense... Canelo either steps into the ring or not !!! The middleweight limit is 160 lbs. why are people trying to defend Canelo/O$CAR's insistence on setting their own rules?
