I think he could have. Not sure if I'd bet on it either way but mike fell into the category of fighter that jerry did well against

I think if Jerry came out gunning early, the slow-starting Weaver could be ambushed a la Shavers. If Weaver survives the first few rounds though, I think Jerry would be in a lot of trouble.

I don't think that this fight would have made it to the 4th round. Quarry would have started fast, and closed the show in round 2 or 3....2 kds and the ref would have saved Mike from any more punishment....a prolonged version of Quarry-Shavers.

I like Quarry in this one. Quicker hands, good counterpunching and more than enough power himself to make Weaver pay.

Quarry middle round knockout is my guess regardless of the sanctioning organization.

Quarry would beat Mike, unless he did something weird to give it away.

Quarry had a terrific shot at thrashing Weaver .. I'd certainly bet on Jerry.

I concur with quarry being the rightful favorite. But I can't see this being an easy fight either way. Mike was a true warrior who gave some excellent accounts of himself against top level fighters both on victory and defeat.. He was also regularly in great physical form.. Jerry most likely wins but he'd have to earn it

I think the Weaver that beat Tate and Coatzee would be strong enough and durable enough to beat Quarry by stoppage in the late rounds, especially if it was a 15 round fight. Weaver was very strong, had stamina and a killer punch.

I would have to bet on Jerry, Mike is underrated because of his poor start in boxing but did not have the backing of a star, still was avoided, he ruined Big John and had a nice run for a short time until King stole his momentum. Quarry beat some bruisers and killers, the slow powerful type of categorize that Mike fits into. I had ringside for Q- vs Shavers-Mac Foster-Lyle-and he handled his business, Weaver fits into the mode - Quarry wins

Quarry wins because of styles. Weaver, though, would not go gentle into that good night.

Lets face it, Mike just isn't the type to fare very well in hypothetical matchups against top competition. The thing is, he was a bonafide threat to upset the applecart and come out with upset wins. I don't think he beats Jerry either. Then again, it's so hard to pick Weaver to actually be the guy with his hand raised.

Weaver and Botha. Every match is a real tough one for them. Nothing is easy. But somehow someway they did get some wins. On paper they lose every time.

And it is almost a seperate category for the underdogs against everybody but they actually win from time to time category.

Mike owned one of my favorite all time cars when he was champ---that Stutz Blackhawk. That gold package & we are talking real gold. I'm sure that was long gone decades ago but what a machine.
