Mike Weaver comes to mind. He was pretty muscular and pumped. Ditto Holyfield.

Lee c****ito was a prospect in the 80s and a body builder. He specialized in fitness instruction after boxing.. He never reached world class level but retired undefeated.

Ken Norton has a bodybuilder body, but said he never lifted a weight in his life.

The contrast of physiques between Ken Norton and prime George Foreman intrigued me...if Norton was a body beautiful type, then George Foreman, no less impressively built, was geared straight for power. He looked so much stronger then Ken in their 1974 bout....one of my all time favorite knockouts.

Norton said that he did not lift weights until after he retired from boxing. Since Norton was a former Marine and played college football, I am not sure I believe him. Then again, Harold Johnson said he never lifted and had an amazing physique. The famous bodybuilder Steve Reeves said that when he met Ken, Ken asked him for a basic routine (but this was after Norton retired).

Foreman had amazing genetics. He had thick, blocky muscles that yielded incredible punching power. He said during his first career he never lifted weights, but **** Sadler had him chop as much wood as they could find. He would volunteer George's woodchopping services for free. Very few people, unless you are genetically blessed, would develop a physique like that from chopping wood. George was one in a million.

I know that Johnny du Plooy was made to chop a lot of wood too, and that it helped his punching power.

    Tyson?

Clearly he was a genetic freak, but he looked like he ADORED lifting a weight or two!

Chopping wood is good excercise but it won't make you huge. Squats, Deadlifts, and Benchpresses

About two years ago, a friend of a friend, gave me Steve Lott's email. I asked him about Tyson's early training under Cus and then Rooney. Lott said that Mike never touched a weight. Even if he went to a healthclub he only used the stationary bike. Mike did use weights later in his career. Lott clearly worships Cus and said that Cus' most important advice to Tyson was about constant head movement. I asked how Tyson would have done under say, Dundee or Gil Clancy, and he said only Cus could have developed Tyson.

There have been plenty of very physically impressive boxers like Weaver, Bruno, Norton, Joshua etc.

But while these guys were muscular for a boxer any competitive body builder would look at those guys and think they were too skinny.
