How much of this issue is mental? And have you ever saw a fighter with a worse case of it than Wlad?

I've NEVER witnessed a fighter with such devastating power combined with having arguably the best of the main punches EVER not use his hands!

He has a seriously mental block he just can't overcome, IMO.

    All of it's mental.

He's sh*t scared of getting hit he's full of fear.

Once Fury took his jab that was it. No way is Vlad taking a shot to land one.

He was just afraid to throw the right hand against Fury.

:deal Once the fight wasn't going his way he didn't know what to do.
Wlad is scared to engage and slug it out.

And after years of holding and grabbing he was doing the same to Fury even-though it was re****ed to do, his muscle memory could not be changed.

Froch hit the nail on the head with "He's like a nervous amateur".

Wlad has so much experience, and granted he won't take 3 to land 1, but he seem's petrified in there at times.

Fury's movement was the key, he gave Wlad no room to get off any of his punches tonite and forced a clinch almost every time Wlad got close to him. The speed was great and Wlad just couldn't find an answer. Rematch will be closer but Fury will still win.

Clinchko such a waste of talent , mentally unfit to be a boxer . He is done .

Props to Fury , he is clearly limited but did enough to win . He will make a few million , hope he hires a money manager.

Bute post Froch is a good mental example. It's definitely part mental but it's also a sign of an aging fighter when he's not able to pull the trigger Mosley is a good recent example when it resulted from physical decline. Klychko has shown it more the last year or two and i suspect it's a combination of both.

Wlad is just a mental mess. People will claim he aged but really Wlad has always been cowardly for his size. I always thought he fought terrified since the Brewster disaster. Wlad had been preying for years on guys too slow or too intimidated by his size to pressure him.

Really wanted Wilder to be the one to exploit this flaw in Wlad. Tyson is somewhat OK but really he's just a slightly more energetic version of Wlad.

Age effects combined with Tysons "hard to deal with" reach and movement are what thwarted s potential Wlad attack

During his prime, it was a mental issue, he's too cautious. Just look at the Haye fight, he had so many opportunities to counter Haye and could have KO'ed him had he wanted to as he was in total control but he just wouldn't pull the trigger when he had Haye in his sights.

Against Fury it was a combination of declining reflexes and the fact he never trained to fight a fight where he had to chase an opponent. He fights one way and only one way, when taken outside of his usual fight he was left looking lost as he couldn't adapt.

Wlad is 39 and that has a lot to do with it, like someone said Mosley is a good example of age catching up and fighters not being able to pull the trigger
