Years from now, all the kids that weren't there at the time will parrot how it was well known that Wladimir was past it and it wasn't really an upset.

An interesting question regarding Wlad's age that I have

If a 39 year old George Foreman was to have fought Wlad tonight how do people think the fight would have gone? Foreman is smaller and has less of a reach than Fury but I think Foreman would have KOd Wlad or won on points.

I was going to come on an make my prediction but forgot.

Well, my prediction is Wlad wins.

Only fair that I take a hosing with everyone else who was wrong.

Well that's both blunt and honest. lol

I'm probably one of the few who decided to stop watching Wlad after the Povetkin fight. I don't mind giving him his dues, and I realize he's a top ten fighter, but I lost respect for him during that fiasco.

But as far as the smaller (ie under 6'4") fighters go, it's simply going to get harder and harder for them to win as the champions become bigger and bigger. That said Flury has an 85" reach and Lewis had an 84" reach so maybe it depends more on your reach than your height, when making this assessment. But I could still see a 6'3" Ali having the skill level to overcome this size & reach discrepancy, but it will take a damn good fighter to pull it off.

Your prediction wasn't any different than most of ours.

I picked Vlad and he looked flat from rd 1, he started to land in the 12th but too little too late and still seemed like the trigger was stuck. Fury fought an excellent fight but did not look dangerous and I think he loses to Povetkin and possibly others. As big as he is should make a good match to Wilder but toss-up fight. Vlad should retire, even if he wins in rematch he would more than likely lose the title again

Povetkin is not the best in the division.

The best in the division until a couple of hours ago was Povetkins daddy, Wladmir who just lost to a better fighter.

Tyson Fury is the best heavyweight on the planet.

I congratulate Fury on his poise, confidence and conditioning .. the fight reminded me of Holmes Spinks where a still very competent champ lost a fraction of his timing and could not catch a well conditioned , elusive opponent .. of course Wlad is past his best but he is still very good and very dangerous .. the fight did show how limited Wlad would have been at any point in his career against movers with chins , speed and jabs like an Ali, Holmes or Holyfield ..

Although I didn't pick him to win, I give full props and kudos to Fury for employing a smart, clever strategy to win the fight and the title. Wlad may have been too old, and shot,...but that isn't Fury's problem. He did what he was supposed to do...hell, you don't have to go after the champ and beat him to a pulp to get the prize, just win...and win with smarts.
