What would Lewis have done if he was in Wlad's shoes last night?

Retire at 37 with far less fights so he's never in this position

The Grant fight was when Lewis was in his early 30s, how about 39 year old Lewis.

Wasn't he retired by this point with 30 fewer fights or so.

ANY other MAN would have thrown punches! Thats it! That is all the big idiot had to do. I'm shocked his corner didn't threaten to throw the towel in just due to Klit having a mental breakdown and really not wanting to fight let alone win.

LOLOLOL, Fury SUCKS. Just because he feints and has quicker hands than most giants, doesn't mean ****. He literally just won the belt vs a heavy bag.

Lewis was from the same school of thought as Wlad.Manny Steward taught his heavies to clam up then jab grab and lean on opponent at every opportunity.

The Canadian was getting his head boxed off by Frank Bruno ffs.

Yes, keep bring up the "he was losing before he won" arguments and see how that works out for you.

Steward, like any trainer, can only work with what he has, and in Wlad he has a much more timid fighter on his hands, who doesn't like to take risks, but is athletically gifted and has power like few others.

Lewis on the other hand, also had power but in addition he had much more of a warrior attitude and was willing to risk getting KO'd in order to try and end a fight.

There's no hope in hell that Wlad would have ever employed Lewis strategy when Lewis fought Vitali. That's just not in his DNA.

Agreed, Lewis took out early any big man who was deemed a threat. Even 'old' Lewis would have let his hands go much more and stopped Fury in under 4 rounds. Lewis could throw combinations with power and I can't see Fury standing up to them. Wlad was getting to Fury at the end of the fight when he landed several power shots - Lewis wouldn't have waited that long and Fury doesn't have a granite jaw in the way of a Chuvalo or McCall.

Moreover, Fury doesn't really punch as effectively as he could. He doesn't plant his feet much and a lot of his shots are arm punches. He has a lot of KOs but a lot of those are either the usual journeymen or are accumulation stoppages. Not sure he has enough on his shots to keep Lewis at bay.

Zeljko Mavrovic went the distance with a prime Lennox Lewis.
Fury's a bigger, more awkward boxer than Mavrovic. Fury is really awkward.

Lewis gets overrated. He really lacks wins over good boxers. He beat some big one-dimensional punchers or big lumps who could box a bit but lacking in defense and adaptability, guys like Ruddock, Golota, Grant etc.
Lewis struggled a lot with limited Ray Mercer, a bit with Bruno and had to box at his absolute best to eek past the far smaller and past-prime Holyfield.

Tyson Fury is still largely unproven, but I think he proved last night he's a smarter, more talented entity that the likes of Michael Grant and Frank Bruno !

Dirty boxed, I'm surprised Wlad is not a dirty fighter like Lewis, hit and hold the guy, also tear with the glove and rabbit punch while doing it. That was Lewis vs Vitali and it worked.

Lennox would go all out if he needed to, that's the difference between Lennox and Wladimir. Lennox could box on the outside very well, but if he had to mix it up, then he could also throw those uppercuts from hell. Seriously, Lennox was always on a different level to Wladimir. Theres not one thing I can think of that Wladimir is actually better at than Lennox.

Lewis was a master at adapting. If he wasn't winning from the outside, he'd dig deep and brawl. Lewis would change angles. If a punch was not landing he'd switch the angle he threw it. Lewis was a pugilst specialist.

People have been trying to say that Wlad is like Lewis because they both had Stewart and liked to jab. Lewis was miles ahead of Wlad in ring IQ and toughness.
