Is it fair to compare Wlad and this HW era to the past?

He beat who was necessary during his time.

Why should Louis legacy be affected on whether he fought a 6'9 gypsy?

No way Louis would lose to Fury come on now.

Fury is too fat and unskilled for Louis.

dempsey is a good example of a very small heavy, in fact he was a small cruiserweight.

I agree that HWs of the past were just as well trained - if not more so- and better conditioned in the past. The old methods were not really necessarily inferior to modern methods. Consider that some boxers nowdays balloon up between fights - not exactly the epitome of professionalism is it?

But expecting Louis to beat Wlad or Fury is like expecting Tomas Hearns to be able to beat George Foreman.

The HW division today is a different weight class to what it was

Exactly. Lewis today would be a light heavyweight or an undersize cruiserweight. People who think he beats heavyweights of today are idiotic american fanboys

After a certain point though size doesn't really matter. A great HW like Louis would just have too much workrate for Fury.

You can't win of you don't throw enough to land.

Put Louis on a modern training regime and he would EASILY be a heavyweight, Povetkin sized probably.

His walk around weight was 234 lb in the army.

Sure lmfao this is the stupidity were dealing with here. His fight weight was low 190's I think but his walk around weight was 45 pounds heavier lmfao he was obviously a fat **** in the army

    ...

He was fighting at around 200-205 for the majority of his career.

He never touched weights like most heavys back then and focused solely on conditioning. He had a big frame and was very skinny and lean.

You think he couldn't bulk up to 220-230 with PEDs and weight training like a lot of heavys do nowadays?

    And you ignored the point....

Louis' workrate would be too much for Fury.

Have the boxing fans of the world lost their minds? Having longer reach DOES NOT mean a shorter armed fighter can't hit you. Being bigger does NOT make a fighter a better Hwt. Being bigger does NOT mean you take a good punch to the chin. One solid right hand from 202 pound Joe Louis is enough to knock out any fighter no matter of size. Great boxing skills in no way shape or form were exhibited in the ring last night. Fury does not have amateur level ability as a fighter.
