It was great to see a veteran defeat his "demons" and come back stronger, he looked like a totally different fighter to the one we've been seing these past 2-3 years, against Pascal he fought scared to throw a punch and yesterday he came out straight away like a true warrior - a total antithesis. Though he was defeated by a younger, better guy, it was a very valiant effort, I can't help but admire it.
True! I'd like to see him against a guy like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. It would make a great action packed fight.
Oh man I'd pick him over Chavez big time, when he said he was back last fight, he wasn't kidding! Though he's up there now with age there's still time to catch a title or two! I can see him beating Jack, Abraham and Chudinov as well. DeGale is a really good fighter who's shown great improvement last couple of years, losing to him is no shame at all!
Agreed on all fronts. He was good last night, but Degale was just better. I could easily see Bute from last night beating any other SMW currently on the scene, save possibly Andre Dirrell.
I don't understand the hate some boxers get....a guy like Bute respectful to his opponents, is a warrior in the ring, came back at the age of 35 from a brutal KO by Froch to compete with a good champ in DeGale. Humble, all around nice guy. People give him a bad rap because of the home field advantage that he got against Andrade which was not his fault. He promptly gave Andrade a rematch and KO'd him with a one punch body shot.
I just watched the fight that I recorded. I didn't sit down and score it round by round but it seemed to be a very competitive fight with DeGale landing more punches in total and some heavier punches. It was a great fight and I was glad to see that the home town judges (1 Canadian, 1 US, 1 Puerto Rican) didn't rob DeGale.
I had it 7-5 DeGale, from what I've seen CST had it close to Bute and IB reasonably wide to DeGale. To be honest, I think my one is the most reflective of the fight.
Well it's two things, he was overhyped by many and thus the hate sort of carried over from the fans to the boxer himself and some "other reasons" as well.
Heh, I'd rather not but if you've been around this place long enough you know what I'm talking about.
