12th could have gone either way, and there was maybe another swing round or two, but I can't see a case for a draw - let alone Bute getting "robbed". Worst possible case for DeGale is 115-113.
Dirrell was close but clear as well. To me the closeness of his best victories just attests to what's so great about DeGale - early in his career, most prominently in the Groves defeat, his shortcoming became apparent, leading many to write him off. What's so impressive and inspiring has been that Chunky has found a way to do just enough to rise to his increasingly higher level of competition and beat them in spite of his shortcomings. Yeah, he gives away rounds, knowing there are limits to his stamina and likely always will be. He incorporates that into his game plan and makes sure to bank at least the minimum # of points needed to overcome the inevitable giveaways that his poor stamina requires of him in order to not gas out and leave himself susceptible to imploding late and getting stopped.
You have to beat the champ to be the champ, especially when he comes to your home town. Close fight but degale did enough.
HE would have score it 13-2 if it was a 15 rounds fight to. The two rounds were just not to be to suspicious. IB must be working for Degale Promotional Team. :bart
I agree with the anyone who scored it 115-113 / 116-112 for Degale. I also thought the 114-114 by the British Tv was extremely generous.
Go back through my RBR and challenge whichever round you want that I gave to DeGale that you feel was clearly Bute's. Make a strong case for it. Provide video. :bart
...and Beast, I did say a few of the rounds were close and I could see it as narrow as 115-113 (but that's it, and even there you'd have to be sort of rah-rah for Bute giving him some of what I saw as close-but-clear DeGale rounds)
Yes, because I felt they were close but clear for him, all viewed in a vacuum, in real-time as they happened. It wasn't like I sat there before or after, consciously deciding "I'm going to grab this whole fistful of close rounds and just slide them over into DeGale's column". It just so happened that he edged them all. That's how scoring live works.
I'm to butthurt to look trough video's right now. But didn't you find it strange that even guys who criticized Bute and were no way fans of his scored it closer than you.
Idk I was hurt when seeing you were scoring rounds even the Brits were giving to Bute to DeGale :bart I thought Bute did a good job, you must take in in account who takes control of the ring and who pushes the action to, not only shots thrown. Degale finished bleeding bad from both eye-sockets. Bute must've done something decent in there, more than a mere two rounds.
A lot of people who aren't even British scored it the same as me, though. :conf It was that kind of fight. Don't forget, the crowd influenced a lot of people into thinking Bute was landing more than he was.
Bute did put on a hell of a show, and my scoring doesn't reflect how close it was, because that isn't always the case with the system of 10-point must scoring. It was a good close fight in which DeGale won several clear rounds and edged just enough of the closer ones to end up with my final scorecard, but Lucian made him work for it all the way through and deserves big respect for it. This was a much better night for him than versus Pascal. :good
I had it 7-5 for Degale, Degale clearly won around 5 Lucian clearly won around 4, and the rest were close and could go either way, I was really rooting and biased towards Bute and the best I could give him was a draw. So robbery is a bit harsh, but Bute was robbed of the rightful scorecards, I would have preferred a MD decision win for Degale than what he got.
