I think Alexander Povetkin beats both Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury. I think Anthony Joshua gets beaten by Wilder and Haye. David Haye is the only man who can beat Povetkin, but it's a 50/50 fight in my view. So in November 2017, I see Povetkin as the unified champion. He has the right style to get past all the other top heavies. Hughie Fury is very similar to Tyson Fury, but is in better shape, so he should be a major player soon.
I agree on Povetkin. The verdict is still out on Joshua but he looks like the future. Haye is finsihed. Can't come back form that injury. I like Hugh, but he has zero power.
Fury would do a number on povetkin and I'm a huge povetkin fan, the reign of the furious one is upon us, him and hughie will dominant the division for years
Povetkin is limited (size, reach, 36 y.o.) No, he won't unify the titles. In era of young giants what can do 36 y.o. 6'2'' fighter (skilled, yes)? He has 2 good years in him, then it's over.
I think its highly likely there will be a unified champ in 2 years. You've got to make Fury the favorite for it right now, as he has by far the best win over any of the others. That said, Wilder and Joshua both appear to have a very legitimate chance of beating him and taking the belts. I guess Povetkin too, but I'd agree with Big Ukranian's overall premise on him in the above post.
Joshua doesn't have any head movement at all, which makes him a sitting duck for Fury and Wilder's straight long punches. Some good points have been made above, but Povetkin, even at the age of 36, is still the best fighter out there because of styles, and he has only been in two wars so he isn't shopworn. David Haye may not be able to recover fully from the injury, so I definitely have to pick Povetkin to be the champ within the next 2 years.
Both Povetkin and Wilder get blown out the door by Joshua. No one I believe can go 12 rounds with Joshua at the moment. Wilder has never faced anyone and when he does next year in Povekin he'll finally be exposed as a fraud. I don't know what we'll get from Haye at this stage. We have to see how he looks in January against that journeyman to gage where he is. If Haye is the same way he was a few years ago I think he gives Joshua problems, but I don't think he'll last 12 rounds or be aggressive enough to win a points decision against Joshua if he were to last. Also about the belts Fury has, he may lose one or two of them because of the mandatory situations. So I don't know if all the belts with be unified in 2017.
I think Joshua will wipe the floor with the heavyweights to be honest in two years. The guy just learns so quick. Fury also is getting a lot better aswell, but I think I would go for Joshua in that fight. David Haye is always going to be a threat, but personally I think he's going to have a lot of trouble with Povetkin and Joshua. Haye likes fighters that he has that distance, he doesn't like boxers that fight up close.
