Rock0052 already said it. You can't rule out somebody with Vlad's track record and skills, but he'll be a huge underdog.

The only thing that makes me wonder is this: for some reason I see some possible Buster Douglas-ian traits in Fury. He could really get lazy, party too hard (he's a drinker) and come in out of shape or overconfident. And he would pay for that big time.

Hasn't Tyson calmed down his partying and is more dedicated now?

I think i heard him say he has been in back to back training camps for a good couple of years now.

I don't think that he can implement the fundamental changes necessary to beat the Fury that just made him look silly. Just tweaking a few things won't get it done.

I just hope he'll be an active champion, taking on the best available. That's all you can ask for.

Yes. He can win and he can win by ko. Yes there is a chance it could backfire. However, he owes himself a try. He needs to come with fire and intend to ko Fury with an accumulation of punches, not look for the perfect one. Throw barrages and move. obviously have a strategy. One better than follow and don't throw. Screw the faints and head movement just throw in bunches and then move.Change the mind frame to 'I am going to whip your ass no matter what I have to take because I hate your ****ing guts.'

I do, because with time, he can devise a plan. He lacks a quick wit and couldn't adapt on the fly, but I don't doubt his ability to be able to ****yse the situation, assimilate his findings, and channel it into a much more effective plan of action.

The problem is that it might not be enough to get a consistent edge against Fury in a rematch, as Fury has the creativity and daring to adapt on the fly, and in unorthodox ways that would yet exploit a deep weakness in Wlad's skill-set.

The issue Wladimir faces is that he no longer can throw a lot of punches, yet he also doesn't have much chance of landing a KO shot from the outside.

If he's going to make the fight competitive, he needs to step into range but, instead of clinching, rip some shots from mid-range. He'll never be an inside fighter, but Fury is pure poison to Wladimir's jab. He needs to build a gameplan off other punches.

And he can spend the rest of the round posing or whatever — it's not like Fury is going to rack up offense, either — and fight in bursts rather than try to impose himself physically. It just won't work.

Good post. He's going to have to make some critical adjustments; his success or failure in a rematch hinges upon that.

Here's the thing: once upon a time Wlad was maybe the world's best offensive fighter. He KNOWS how to pull the trigger. He's just forgotten it because he's been too cautious.

In Pride FC there was a guy called Shoji who fought a bunch of guys that he had no business even being in the ring with. Yet he was competitive and even pulled of some good wins through sheer fire and guts.

Before each match he used to sit down and write his will, as though he was going to die in the fight.

THAT is the approach that Wlad needs to win the rematch.

:rofl On Wlad being a massive underdog, it was a s*** performance from both of them, all Wlad will have to do is land 2 to 3 more punches per round and he'll take it. But as I stated before Wlad figured him out and he'll clinch his way to a KO.

Wlad's getting old, let's be honest. Maybe he should hang them up if he wins the rematch. There's no point if the fire is not there anymore.

Wlad will have to open up and be more aggressive and take the risks, and next time I think he will, he has nothing to lose at this point. If he loses again, he's definitely done

I'm actually excited for the rematch despite the stinker, it's either going to be a repeat, or a completely different fight.
