Is it fair to compare Wlad and this HW era to the past?

    That's not an apt comparison.

    1. NFL rule changes have changed the way the game is played.

    2. Better schemes and coaching has changed the game.

    3. Weightlifting and getting big for the sake of big is an advantage in football, but not in a cardio sport like boxing.

    4. Boxing technique and training was perfected many decades ago and has only since regressed.

If you want to strengthen your argument it would help if you knew the difference between Louis (who fought mostly in the 40's) and Lewis who retired in 2003 and was close to the same size at the k brothers. Lewis isn't even close to bring an undersized cruiser weight.

Size is never going to be a substitute for talent. But the boxer who has both is hard to beat. If a boxer has only one of the two l'd pick talent over size. As far as yesterday's heavies vs today's, l'd say boxing was much bigger pre tv when many more clubs existed and upwards of 100,000 would watch heavyweight champion bouts and the champ was almost presidential in importance and fame. As to when size becomes a huge factor l would say Duran beat Barkley who had a 7" advantage with nothing going for him but skill. Holyfield beat a 7'ft fighter with skill advantage and Tyson often beat fighters 4-5 inches taller than him. Both Louis and Dempsey did as well. So while it's becoming harder to do it's still possible.

:happy:lol: And the fights need to be over 100 rounds long, with slugs of whiskey allowed to be consumed in the corners.
