Degale rightly got overshadowed this weekend - We'll see how Fury treats his belts (hopefully not like Brook) This weekend I think he showed why he's one of the few true British World champions. - Willing to fight anyone, Wherever also. It seems - Comes out and tries to bash up Bute, the fight sizzled, great performance. - Great technique, exciting, can take a shot. Lacks true knockout power but with accuracy and workrate he's going to rack up TKO's He still says stupid things but i've never had a problem with anybody saying stupid things if they are willing to go out and back it up I think its the one British fans should really get behind now. Go Chunk
Great post. I really believe DeGale will duck no man, he's been calling out the guys people don't want to fight, i.e. Ward, also said he'd rematch Dirrell, and has said that he'd fight Golovkin, which I do believe. He's got skills, he's got a good chin, a bit of power and is in good fights, so I hope he gets the recognition he deserves, I think he'll be a great champion at SuperMiddle.
He fought a washed up Bute who held his own with him, decision could have went either way. Never staggered Bute once, sat on ropes far too much. He also thinks he is 100x better than he actually is, and is very lucky division is so weak at the moment with regards to top draw world class super middleweights (there isnt any), though Callum Smith will get there
He's been looking good in boxing terms for the past 2 years. Never really liked or disliked his personality until I saw a documentary type thing maybe a year or so ago and he seemed like a decent normal guy. He obviously has a bit of arrogance and bravado at times like most boxers but seems like a genuinely decent human being at heart.
He fought a reinvigorated, fast, powerful, highly skilled and experienced former World Champion in his own back yard and clearly won a wide UD in an exciting, entertaining fight. He is has all important self belief, is willing to fight the best and is one of, if not the best in the world in his division. -Just another way of looking at it .
NB: Bute linked up with Heredia for this fight, I'm not accusing Bute of anything, just letting this be known.
Post #1 & Post #2 are spot on. :good James is a proper fighter. I used to hate his attitude, but he can back up what he say's. That alone deserves respect. Not to mention the fact that he's done it the hard way (come on, the guy was an Olympic Gold Medalist and was fighting in leisure centres! To claw it back to where he is now takes grit!). Wish him all the best!
Same, never really a fan, but have to give him credit for what hes doing and what he plans to do. He's coming across alot more likeable and I hope he can unify the division, which I think he can
A lot of people I've seen on Twitter saying they think Jack gives DeGale a hard fight and can beat him, I personally don't see how Jack could beat DeGale.
Was a great performance. But this idea he will travel anywhere and fight anyone is ridiculous. He has no choice but to go where he is told because he has absolutely bo fan base.
You are right about his fan base I am from North London and he has never shifted tickets. He has come on in bundles as a fighter and has great self belief so deserves credit, walked the walk.Great win away from home didn't get enough credit either for beating AD. His fan base can and will grow take Carl Froch, fellas my age remember his fights on Grandstand Sat afternoon on tape delay!
