Lara would provide some insight into that though as we know the guy will hop on that bicycle from the first round and then we'd see how easily he can cut off the ring.

 

You can see how good he is at cutting the ring off, and he would do it against Lara!!! Prime example of not knowing how to cut the ring off is Garcia vs Paterson!

 

Still, even if he somehow managed to do it, just because one guy in boxing is able to somehow negate this, doesn't mean it should be allowed to be done to the extent that some guys do it.

Footwork and movement is fine, running around being scared to engage isn't. Fighters SHOULD learn how to cut off the ring, but you shouldn't have to be as good as the best guy at it in order to ensure that you do not get these pansies running away from you spoling the pleasure from the fans or cheating their way to a cheap victory.

Why are people arguing in absolutes here and making it seem like this is a black and white issue?

 

I bet if boxing was done in an open field, these same guys would probably tap you once and then use their "footwork" to run the hell away in the opposite direction, it's disgraceful.

You're trying to handicap the fight to cater to one style of fighter over another. Maybe we should eliminate the high guard, or the philly shell. This is boxing, there is more than one way to do it.

In hockey, there is no need to adjust rink size on a game by game basis. I'm not talking ammy vs pros, which would be a more appropriate comparison.

So you'd end up having one fight in the "proper" ring size for the weight, and the next in the "improper" sized ring, depending on where the fight is staged. You're trading one variable for another. If the point is uniformity, then it sort of defeats the whole purpose, yes?

Wow, I disagree. Lara is low output but I wouldn't classify him as a runner. Thurman, I'm assuming you're referring to the Collazo fight. Dude got hurt and had trouble recovering, he shouldn't be penalized.
