The most skilled fighter Monzon beat was a blown up light Welter/Welter.
The greatest fighter Hagler beat was a blown up lightweight.
As for Greb, well we all know he beat great fighters and bigger men but there's no footage so he was probably s****e. I read Klomptons Greb book last year and I'm still peed off there was an ink stain running through the pages of the entire book. Greb must be overrated.

Joe Brown is undoubtedly a great LW because he ruled a weak (imo) division.

If Broner could still make the weight I don't see anyone there to trouble him, if he unified and racked up ten defences he'd clearly be seen as a great LW.

 

He also ruined Camacho as a fighter.

 

Is Joe Brown truly a great lightweight? You claimed Broner could be a great if he ruled a weak lightweight division. There is a huge difference in class between being HOF fighter compared to a great at the weight. Broner would be neither no matter what he could of achieved in a very weak division because he is clearly not even semi great in terms of talent and skill. Imagine how Broner would compare H2H vs the true greats of the lightweight division, one of the most historically talent rich divisions in boxing history

 

Well I said he'd be considered a great. If he dominated the division for a long time he wukd be considered a great.

I picked Rosario to knock out Broner and I stillstill aways would.

I'd pick Rosario to stop Brown as well despite him being a greater LW than Rosario.

I personally do rank h2h so Broner is nowhere near any rankings of mine but there are those who rank on legacy and achievement and unifying a division and leading for a long time does leave a great legacy.

 

Fair enough. At the end of the day we all have our criteria in which we rate boxers. Lightweight is one of the more historically rich divisions in boxing. To consider the likes of Broner a great lightweight for beating up bums is a complete no go for me.
Even Howard Davis Jr would beat Broner easily.

 

Tbf Mosley has that exact reputation.

Broner was a monster at 135. I don't know if I'd pick him to beat Rosario, but he wouldn't get knocked out. I can't see Rosario beating prime Porter and Maidana either.
