There are options at 168 but he's to stubborn to realise despite being the man at 168 he is unable to call the shots regarding fights against certain fighters.

What Ward is doing is wanting to take his time to get aclimatised to the 175 division before fighting Kovalev something Ward wasn't willing to do regarding a fight with GGG.

Ward has gone to 175 because he cannot make 168 comfortably anymore and he's wasted a good part of his career. But he will be comfortable at 175.

 

at cruiserweight. they will both be 185lbs + lol

and kovalev will eat him.

 

So Kovalev who is a career 175 should come down to 172 to fight a guy who fought at least 175 in the amateurs but has been a career 168 fighter in the pro's?

Yet you expect GGG who has been a career 160 fighter to move up to 168 to fight Ward and are against a catch weight at 164?

But he IS comfortable at 175. He fought at LHW in the Olympics as a 21 year old.

 

Light heavyweight limit is 178 lbs in the amateurs.

 

Ward walks around at 180-185 but is too small to make 175? why would he hurt himself more to cut down to 171 than to 175?
