For how long do you consider Wlad to have been the true HW champ?

Because back in 2008 there's were the best rankings. Just not the best title policy.

It doesn't change how I rank Vitali at all tbh, he's still in my top 10.

It just changes the legitimacy of his title reign. A bit like how Jones was never LHW champ.

iirc we talked about this before and you were aware of the rankings when Vitali was awarded his paper Ring strap.

    Do you take drugs?

Then perhaps I don't think you recall correctly.

No I'm not really a fan of narcotics tbh.

So was Jones but I don't really see him as a legitimate champion neither.

Unfortunately for fans of the sport the Ring did the opposite of what we wanted. They made an even more ludicrous championship policy with pretty much no media backing nor prestige.

Due to their **** championship policy you could argue that boxing is as fractured now as it was back in the claimant days.

I did mention the TBRB though hopefully they get more media backing.

As for the rankings, I don't have amnesia nor DID, I just merely forgot. I know what the annual rankings gs are we can all access them on boxrec. I'm still unsure of the specific monthly because I don't know if Byrd dropped a place after his effort against Oquendo. As I said at the time though, it was a rush to fill the championship, and apparently an erroneous one.

Ring did have it in that order but Byrd fought to a draw with Golota the week before Vitali beat Sanders.

Ring would have probably considered Sanders #2 by the time the Vitali fight actually happened even if they hadn't put it into print yet.

But probably doesn't cut the mus**** does it? I don't have the issue from that month so can't say one way or another.

From Byrd 2, Wlad was the champ to beat
From Ibragimov, Wlad consolidated his position by unifying
From Chagaev, beat the #3 ranked guy to win the ring title
    From Povetkin, Wlad became lineal

It depends how much importance you put on titles or being lineal. I’m usually big into lineal championships but for me, ever since Byrd 2, Wlad has been top dog. The old timers never had to jump through hoops to be lineal. There were fewer titles so the top guys nearly always fought.

This. All this lineal champ bull**** is pointless now.

the only HW who could be considered better than him ( Vitali ) retired. He was the champ from that point.

So why are you going around in circles with all of this?
You said he wasnt a champ and that you felt it mattered, then now you found he was and it doesnt matter.
You are getting all of this over a magazine title?

It matters in so far as tracing championship history.

It matters not about how I rank the fighters themselves.

But no I'm getting it on the basis of the top two contenders facing each other.

Vitali's claim to the Lineal title is debatable. Depends on if you consider Corries Sanders the #2 HW in the world after sonning Wlad...
