Just in the pro ranks, Jacob's has been dropped three times, and stopped once, GGG has never been down and obviously never been stopped, that tells you all you need to know about their defense.

Well, he's NOT the legit #2 rated MW, as he didn't hold on to the belt, and at BEST is about as good as Andy Lee who he drew with.

I disagree. Of course their have been amateur stand outs that have been busts, but overall I think amateur champs tend to do well in the pros.

My point isn't that Quillin was some kind of elite fighter. He was a world class mw. Before Canelo, he was the guy that was the consensus guy needed on GGG's resume at mw. Had GGG beaten him, he still would have been that guy. Now that he lost, now he's no good. Again, it's self-serving and all too convenient.

    A titlist or the champ?

Didn't he lose to Sam Soliman around the same time?

Because he fooled everyone into thinking he is by beating second rate fighters and having an undefeated record.

Quillin got exposed, are you trying to tell me I should completely ignore this and fool myself into thinking he's still better than Murray and Lemieux? That's ridiculous.

Resumes don't win fights. I like Jacobs, but based on the eye test, GGG is on a different level.

Jacobs' defence doesn't have any holes in it, hence why he tagged clean by Pirog repeatedly, including getting dropped twice and laid out crucifix position style. That's why he was dropped by cotton bud fists Sergio ''The Latin Snake'' Mora whose venom is about as deadly as carrot juice. And why he was dropped in the amateurs by Korobov and twice by Shawn Porter. :patsch

What he's talking about is Strum being WBA MW Champ, what's funny is that the same people will talk up GGGs MW defense's when he wasn't even the real Champion for most of them Strum was.

Bumlovkin never having been stopped is a credit to his CHIN, not his defense. Even guys with good defense get caught - as was the case with Jacobs. Still doesn't change the fact that Jacobs is the better boxer with the better defense.

    Champion: Saul Alvarez
    1 Gennady Golovkin
    2 Peter Quillin
    3 Andy Lee
    4 Miguel Cotto
    5 Daniel Jacobs
    6 David Lemieux
    7 Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam
    8 Daniel Geale
    9 Billy Joe Saunders
    10 Dominic Wade

The TBRB rankings prior to last night's fight. Quillin was the #2 rated MW in the world. Period, end of...

Ok. Still doesn't change the fact that amateur records mean less than nothing in the professional ranks.

Bumlovkin needs to prove that in the ring. The "eye test" proves *nothing*.

Yet, Lemieux was exposed on more than one occasion, and vs far lesser fighters, but he gets your stamp of approval?

Murray, much as I like him, has no real big wins of his own and is more known for being competitive in his losses.

But Quillin's quality is now dimissed because he lost to another world class mw.

Quillin just had ONE good win and his "quality" was exposed by Rosado and Lee before his last fight.

Lemieux was "exposed" at the age of 21-22 when he didn't have experience and just gassed out.

Sure, but that doesn't mean it's the end of the road for you. Lemieux came back and he's been doing well against the same names Quillin struggled with.

Murray has close fights with Martinez, Sturm, Abraham and went eleven rounds with GGG, I rate this highly, I really do.

I think the problem is that people are trying to be too scientific with this ****. If the resume is world's apart I understand it but if it's close... Who I think beats who also matters.. And I think those two guys beat Quillin, I wouldn't even second guess this.

I think it's entirely possible that Jacobs could give GGG a few problems, and would be the most well rounded fighter on GGG's resume. But having watched them both, and also seeing how they have done vs similar levels of opposition, I don't see how anyone coild come to any other conclusion that GGG is on a different level.
