That's likely part of the problem right there, IMO - perhaps the single biggest culprit in why it became career-ending.

Chiropractic is utter quackery and pseudoscience, and dangerous. Nobody should use it, ever, and no qualified physician will ever refer someone to see a chiropractor any more than one might refer a patient to a homeopath or "crystal healing therapist" with the expectation of resolving symptoms.

...or caused by chiropractors' reckless manipulation of their spines in treatment of minor, routine discomfort. :-(

 

What kind of chiropractor wouldn't be able to spot a tumour like that?

Actually 85% of all lower back pain no cause can be nailed down, more than likely phychological pain

 

Chiropractors are not doctors. They are dangerous quacks with no foundation in any hard science and do not have the endorsement of any real licensed practitioners of conventional Western medicine.

 

Leaves a bad taste though. I have gone to an osteopath before when I was younger with terrible chronic back pain and he completely fixed me in two sessions with little manipulation after months of suffering and osteopaths are considered by some to be quacks

I'm a physiotherapy student so I know how hard to nail down back pain can be

 

If done simple massage on people before and told people that they need to get unexplained small lumps checked out. How someone can't spot something like that is beyond me. We also have a red/yellow flag system in place which takes all patient circumstances into account to rule out more serious issues.

I personally hate dealing with backs becuase even if you spot and correct issues and give all the perfect advice the pain might still be there due to phychological pain. With back pain you need a more holistic approach and a focus on ergonomics. However in an elite athletes case that's not very helpful

 

Good to know. Iv a real feeling that health care in the usa is like the wild west with not too many regulations . In Britian the NHS is quiet rigid and there's a lot of things I don't like about the system but if a patient comes in with an issue I know our examinations are pretty great at making sure there's no major issues

 

That sounds horrible, I come from a country that doesn't have free health care but apart from that the service is quiet good

Here in the uk though the NHS does everything and everything is free. However it leads to a sense of entitlement from everyone that the service will do everything for them. I don't think they realise how amazing completely free health care is and completely take it for granted
